2016 East Coast Custom Knife Show - TOP Personalities and Craftsmanship

Great thread!

Trevor's shots are outstanding, it's evident he had fun with that assignment.

And your images are the best!

Great shots. This was a rare time that I passed on the show. Had I known it was the last ECCKS in "the area" I probably would have gone. I was never too crazy about the location but i'm sorry to see it go and hope it has good success in Fl. Does this include a change for the NYcks?

Thanks, Coop, this was the show that really got me into collecting, almost 30 years ago. I miss this and the NYCKS but that's the OK, I'm older and collecting less.;)
I was a little baffled that there was no show promotion on here but this Forum has taken a different direction, too bad. If it weren't for Coop we wouldn't even know these knives/makers existed.

I'm with all of you guys. I'm usually on top of things in this regard, AND consider it a responsibility of MINE. However, it's not a requirement. (See my notes at the bottom)

Regardless, the list of prominence is long. :)

I am still working on the images: Full disclosure: I have had (5) full performances since the ECCKShow in a play I have been rehearsing for the past ten weeks (Twelve Angry Jurors - I'm Juror #12. It has women in the cast as well.) That really took me away from the computer many hours.

I'm fortunate to have gotten THIS much done.

More real soon!

I see it as more of a responsibility of the Makers & Show Promoter than yours, Jim.

You've always been a top promoter of custom knives, shows & makers.

That is so cool! You are truly a man of many talents.

Ditto.

^^^ Thank you guys! :)

Back from intermission.....

RJ Martin is considered a veteran maker by every measure. His current success and the desirability of his pieces took years to cultivate.

RJ brought me a folder he made in 1995, and continues to own and use. He's never selling this one. Old Skool RJM (That's his mark on it!)

His current lineup of folders took a trip to engraver David Riccardo, who is simply insane in his work (in a good way!) See why:

That's David's mark in the ring. It's miniscule, but right there. LOL!

Ron Lake has been making knives, probably for TWICE as long. And his work commands more than twice the prices (Don't ask!  )

Check out his latest work with miniature amber inlays and frames....

If you have been following my posts over the years you have seen and heard of Michael Zieba. I love this guy.

He's based out of Brooklyn, NYC in an industrial area, and simply has an eye for design and a work ethic which is matched by.... very few.

I am going to show you why....

Slim gentleman's folders

Hard-use tacticals

Here's a pair of 'oyster' knives which come with kydex sleeves
orig.jpg

He experiments with all kinds of coatings
orig.jpg

Mike also designs and produces all these little metal heads and trinkets
orig.jpg

Here's one to make the maker's smile. :D

Those are cast from spent hollow point bullets

His origination was, and still is, formidably quality kitchen knives
orig.jpg

He makes his own steel, too.

He does NOTHING less than top quality. Check out this VERY INSIGHTFUL video he produced about Brooklyn Knives:

^^^ That's all I got done today. Is this a Brooklyn Knives promo? YOU BET. He purchased every one of those images, to help make sure he is visible.

Thank you MIKE!

Great job all the way around. I didn't realize how many folders were at the show. That is my favorite thing about going to the different shows, is the different types of knives at each. Beautiful work!

Thank you guys! Yes, this show is folder-rich. :D  Lots of smaller, articulate knives.

I am almost completely done editing. I will post more later today.

In the meantime, circle back and read the names and captions of the people in the first few posts. (Thanks for the corrections!)

Coop

Wow Coop, you're constantly setting the bar!

Thanks for all your work!
