2017 Price Increase(s)

So it looks like Benchmade is raising prices again. The Adamas is now selling for $195.95 up from $178.95. MRSP on the Adamas jumped $20. I remember when I got mine for $132 in July of 2013. Other models are also selling for more as of today. Inflation.

To be fair, Benchmade produces models longer than other companies do, so pricing increases are to be expected.

Inflation or cost of living last year was slightly less than 2%. The increased price of the Adamas was 9%.
If Benchmade is raising all prices that much, that is going to be hard for me to swallow. I thought they were
already expensive compared to the competition. Whatever people will pay.

Personally, I will not pay the exorbitant prices Benchmade is forcing dealers to charge for their knives. I love Benchmade knives, but I wait until I can buy one on the secondary market or from a dealer who has a sale under the Benchmade MAP pricing.

I have owned Benchmade knives since 1994 and I still buy them, but not at their cost of admission. I have not received any raises that have kept pace with inflation for the past 8 years and many people I know have not received any raises since 2008. I am sure that there are people who will pony up to the Benchmade going rates, but not me. I stepped off the carousel.

On tight semi-retired income, buying a knife like a Benchmade is a one or two purchases per season, and only If we can afford it. And combined with a drawer full already collected, and trades off the secondary market, my buying days are not what they used to be. If Benchmade is going to raise the prices and at the same time pull many of my favorites off the market my money goes elsewhere.

I looked at a few places and didn't notice a price increase (yet). I'm curious where this info is coming from?

With that being said; I was a long time Benchmade defender when it came to price. I started buying after the MAP Fiasco (I wasn't even sure what the hell people were talking about at first) and would argue that their life sharp service made up for the high price. And in some ways it still may, but last year I ordered a knife from a company and wrote "sharp and centered with even grinds" in the comment section. I got an email from them stating they only had 3 Crooked Rivers in stock and all of them were off center and two had pretty uneven blade grinds. I ended up getting a refund and I contacted another store that I have bought Benchmade knives from when my #1 is out of stock and they had two in stock with the same issues.

I just don't understand how Benchmade can continue to raise prices without their consistency and quality being raised.

I'm not sure which dealers that I can and cannot name, but the one I'm thinking of starts with the letter "G", and they are not price gougers. I also noticed that not all the prices were raised, certain models stayed the same, but there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to which ones went up. For example, the 320 Precinct went from $119 to $123.25, and it was released last April/May.

I purchased my Benchmade 275 Adamas for $119.34 + shipping from KnifeWorks also in July 2013!

Right now, BladeHQ, GP Knives and KnifeCenter have it in stock for $195.50 but it's "only" $178.50 at KnifeWorks! I know KnifeWorks has a big inventory of Benchmades.

They've lost my business entirely due to the strict MAP and what has certainly looked to be a subtle downgrade in build quality. They've also clung to older, ingot steels on their high-end models far longer than most. I don't mind 154CM and D2 in the least, but I do mind paying $150+ for them.

The kicker is repackaging the HK autos and pricing at $100 more!

benchmade is going to price themselves out of the market except for die hard fans. they'll even lose some of those to the secondary market as they keep raising prices. their company their call, but one i just dont like.

They're already overpriced. Guess I'll be owning even fewer Benchmades.

They are overpriced for what you get. They are good knives, but I put the value/worth at 30% of what they are now. I have a 530 that I paid just under $100, but it is a $70 knife at most.

Cost of living...

I wish I got a raise equal to their BS price increases, if their actual reasoning is inflation/cost of living. Definitely lost a customer in me, and I try to support USA made knives over others.

Benchmades are not worth what the new 2017's cost.

benchmades were not worth what they cost in 2016, and probably 2015 also.

Quality of benchmade knives are poor quality and support is good but also hit or miss, often missing. sure, i like the few i have but... id like it better if i got better quality for the HIGH prices i paid for them. i get better quality when i buy a ZT, which has better price/performance/quality/support/etc.

Benchmade, fix your shit, or tell ZT to stop making better knives.

I just bought a new Adamas 275 an Arvensis and an HK 14715 during Christmas. I am glad I spent my savings when I found deals.
I probably wont be buying anymore Benchmades for a while..
