2018 Spyderco Product Guide - Live!

Pleased with the Respect and the Waterway looks great. Not much for folders we didn't already know about, but that's ok too me. I expect a lot of stuff will show up in the catalog supplement, so I wouldn't rule out lots of new stuff.

The following are NEW, not previously announced and as seen in the 2018 Spyderco Catalog which was released on December 8, 2017:

  1. Native5 Salt LC200N PlainEdge Yellow FRN (USA)
  2. Native5 Salt LC200N SpyderEdge Yellow FRN (USA)
  3. WaterWay LC200N Black G-10 (USA)
  4. Calypso Jr. Super Blue Gray FRN Sprint (Japan)
  5. Delica4 V-Toku2/SUS310 Blue-Gray FRN Sprint (Japan)
  6. DragonFly2 V-Toku2/SUS310 Blue-Gray FRN Sprint (Japan)
  7. Endura4 V-Toku2/SUS310 Blue-Gray FRN Sprint (Japan)
  8. Kopa VG-10 Stainless Steel Sprint (Japan)
  9. LadyBug V-Toku2/SUS310 Blue-Gray FRN Sprint (Japan)
  10. ManBug V-Toku2/SUS310 Blue-Gray FRN Sprint (Japan)
  11. Parata VG-10 Black G-10 (Japan)
  12. Rescue3 VG-10 FFG Black FRN (Japan)
  13. Shabaria VG-10 Gray G-10 Sprint (Japan)
  14. Spyderhawk Salt H-1 Orange FRN Sprint (Japan)
  15. Stretch2 V-Toku2/SUS310 Blue-Gray FRN Sprint (Japan)
  16. PPT CPM-S90V Solid CF Sprint (Taiwan)
  17. Warrior Hawk D2 Black G-10 (Taiwan)
  18. Zoomer CPM-20CV Black G-10 (Taiwan)
  19. ClipTool Rescue 8Cr13MoV SpyderEdge Black G-10 (China)
  20. ClipTool Standard 8Cr13MoV PlainEdge Black G-10 (China)

Right, virtually all sprint runs of well-established, existing models. Very little in terms of actual new designs, particularly in folders.

I'm just excited to see black blades paired with black screws, pivots, and clips. :)

The Lil Native, Native 5 Salt and WaterWay are what caught my eye. I was hoping to see a color option for the Lil Native but oh well.

Another vote for the Native5 LC200N which is about the only one that attracts me and I had not previously heard about. Hopefully, they'll have a street price of around $100. I have the Native5 LC200N DLC ComboEdge with Red FRN which was a Never Summer exclusive.

Of the previously announced ones, I'm still interested in Para3 CPM-S90V Textured CF Sprint and possibly Hanan CPM-S30V Polished G-10 with Titanium Bolsters.

The Spring Supplement had better be just extraordinary. I just can't get over how flat and meager this catalog drop is.

For at least the last two years there's always been stuff to get really excited about in the Spyderco catalog drop. This is definitely the weakest one I feel I've like seen.

Most exciting thing for me is the Stop lock, I've never seen it before and it looks neat. Other than that maybe a Lil'Native(if it had a thumb ramp like the DF2 I'd be sold) and the Sprint DF2 in V-Toku2, which will depend on the steel but I'm not familiar with it.

Overall a little disappointing, hope they release some new designs later.

What I read in these cards is that Spyderco is regrouping from some setbacks they may have suffered due to some rocky product launches. Some ambitious models may have had some problems that hurt the overall profitability of the line as a result of recalls, retooling, and delayed launches. By adjusting (raising) prices across the line and ending production of some of the more ambitious models, Spyderco can perhaps make up for some losses. It just means Spyderco enthusiasts will have a little more time to save up for special things to come in the future.

This catalog has an unprinted, disclaimer. "Enthusiasts, please be patient while we regroup and we promise you will not be disappointed."

Considering the quality of the models that have been discontinued I was expecting more surprises from this 2018 catalog
I hope the mid year one will bring more

Hoping so.
