Happy New Year, gents!

Now that 2019 is here and the SHOT show is just around the corner, I figured I would start a thread to chat about the upcoming collaboration piece. The Case Bose knives are some of my favourite knives, period. I'm hoping some of our better informed members here might chime in and give us a clue as to what the next pattern may be.

Thank you for getting the conversation started. I'm keeping my fingers crossed very tightly for a 2 blade gunstock or a 3 blade split spring congress. Nothing over 3.75" closed. Hopefully some Intel will pop up soon!

But I don't think it was ever part of the CASE catalogue...and my understanding is that it is only CASE patterns that are 'eligible'

Maybe not, Will. I'm not sure but my impression is that it just has to be a Tony Bose pattern. I don't recall seeing the Norfolk or the Cattle Knife in Case's line up prior to the Case/Bose offerings. The Cattle Knife I believe was an Empire pattern but I'm not sure where the Norfolk originated.

I think you're correct Rick. The lockback whittler wasn't a Case model, was it?

I may well have misunderstood the thing, I thought it was CASE patterns that TB 'revived' from extinction as it were. Probably not then, apologies.

The Norfolk is I suspect, originally an English pattern of Serp framed knife with Wharncliffe master and sometimes a secondary as in a Pen configuration. Rodgers of Sheffield certainly made them, not to be confused with their huge multi blade knife also called Norfolk (after Norfolk St. their address?) I've seen catalogue pictures from c19th/c20th early with such knives.

I don't think it was, Alan. I think the only Bose branded Case knives that have to be in the Case line up are the lower priced and readily available patterns like the Sowbelly, Swayback Jack, etc. I'm not even sure about those. They may have had Tony's name on them since the day of release.

Not trying to argue but I don't think any of the collabs have been a regular Case product? I seem to recall reading the opposite somewhere though. Specifically in regard to the sowbelly. It being a regular production and Case rejected it for the annual collab project.

Not so. For example the Wilfred Lock Back Hunter is a Remington pattern, though copied by many. The Arkansas Hunter was not Case, I think maybe Empire? Didn't Charlie supply the antique version to Tony?

I am a little surprised that we have not seen a barlow yet. Could this be the year? A few other of Tony's patterns that I have seen have not yet been produced either. Off the top of my head, I'm thinking a two blade gunstock, saddlehorn trapper (though I think that Case produces that one in their general line) or maybe a swayback?

A Half Congress would be interesting, but if it's not one of TB's patterns then it won't run?

A single blade could be a good idea too.

Too many multi-blade knives in the recent years, I guess it may be a single blade this year.
Swayback jack is not a bad choice.

That would be a great choice, with a stovepipe kick. I'm not holding my breath, it's a very small pattern.

JB in SC JB in SC Tony's larger 3 5/8" version would be killer for a collaboration knife.

I get the single blade thing just not for these knives. You can get a dang nice single blade custom for what a Case Bose collab costs. But you can't touch a multi blade custom worth its salt compared to these collabs. You can call it hyperbole if you want but the multi-blade Case Bose collabs are the creme de la creme of production multi blade slip joints by far and it's not even close.
