See that's just dark brown. If I could be sure of piano black I would switch my vote to AB, but if it's not jet black then I'll roll the dice on ironwood for something with more character, and polish the hardware myself.

I dug up the picture of my only example of unfinished wood and brushed bolster and shield (like how the desert ironwood is going to come).... ugly. Didn’t keep it. Nice scuffed up bolster from the factory to boot.

I'm not sure if one of my previous posts got misinterpreted or not, but I don't think a brown wood "works harder" than black wood. What I was saying was that all the hammers, screwdrivers, files, saws, etc., I have with wood handles all have a brown wood. My father never passed down an ebony handled hammer to me. So I think the ironwood would match my MY purpose for this knife. As long as it's wood, I really don't care which one it is, but I know which one I would prefer. I really love hearing that my opinion and preference are wrong....

Upon confirmation of no chance for a bail or lanyard tube I believe that I am going to pass on this one. With that in mind, I decided to put my vote to Osage Orange (my original pick) so as to not affect the outcome. I will leave that to those with skin in the game.

At this point as long as the bomb shield wins out I don't care! I mean, for all the rational people with a good eye and sense of style the AB is the obvious choice but if ironwood wins, I'll take that hipster stuff too. Somebody already said it, "just send me my knife already!"
