Damn, there are a lot of models being discontinued! I was just on Blade HQ & was seeing a bunch of Benchmade's were listed as "Discontinued" & immediately headed here to find out what was going on. Glad I did.
Any chance that I can get my 570-1 Presidio II CF-Elite just replaced? The damn liners are bent, yes bent! It's causing my the blade to have horrible action & because of the flaw, the pivot backs out & clicks between scales & the pocket clip is wonky. I don't know how in the world that one was allowed to leave the shop but it was a huge miss on the part of QC. I like the knife, overall, I mean. Just not MY knife, because it's so messed up!
I sent it in for warranty repair, but got it back with the issue unfixed. It would seem that they just gave it an oil bath, replaced 2 body screws & the pocket clip & called it good. I am pretty frustrated with it, because I know it's not right. I removed one of the handle scales & could tell on sight that the liner was not straight by any means, so I put it back on & removed the other one & discovered the same thing: the liner slants inward toward the blade of the knife around the pivot (or outward towards the butt, I'm really not sure) & as a consequence the blade neither opens nor closes smoothly or with ease. It takes a strong flick or push of the thumb stud to open & a noticeable wrist movement to initiate closure even with the Axis bar pulled all the way back. It doesn't always close 100% either. It usually loses inertia & movement ceases at about 80% closure with the blade still outside of the handle.
