2022 GEC #59 Shaffer Farm Whittler Thread

I had a couple 59's recently arrive.... They share many of the hallmark GEC genetics with a couple noteworthy notes.....

These 2 knives represent a continued move to ultra precise, closely fitted cutting mechanisms..... The secondary blades are so delicate and precise, I think a surgeon could pluck your prostate out before you could ask for a bedpan......

I like the direction Bill is going with innovation and keeping interest alive.... I'm not a whittler and never will be.... But I get giddy when I handle these beautifully created tools.... As Dad Ford told Edsel; "Son, if you aren't trying new things, you're dying"...... Not everything will be 5 stars, but the point is to be bold.... And I think Bill is very bold.....

For those that have both. How does the 59 whittler compare in whittling performance versus the 29 whittler?

From left to right are my rank order of whittlers/carver for their intended purpose. The 38 and 62 reign supreme. The 29 and 59 will require more frequent switching of blades depending on the cuts. I prefer the small sheepsfoot blade on the 59 to make precise cuts compared to the larger one on the 29 while the main blades I’m indifferent on. If I had to choose I’d pick the 59 to work with. I hope this helps.
