2024: 10th Annual Scout Knife Memorial GAW

Wow 10 years- way to keep the memory going! I would like to enter for my son Caleb, who is now 14. My wife and I adopted him and his brother a few years back out of a really bad situation involving drugs and mistreatment. He loves swords and knives, and is getting better about keeping up with his tools lol. He was in scouts and loved it, but now is very involved in band and athletics so scouts got pushed to the side. We are planning a hunting/camping trip with my brother in law and this would be a nice addition for him to bring!

This is such a wonderful GAW and tradition, and I have been fortunate to win it in the past!

That knife went to a young fella in Wisconsin, the son of a pal, and I would like to enter this year on behalf of his sister.

It turns out she is getting pretty into knives and I would like to keep that going! She's a ninth grader this year! Where does the dang ol' time go?

abbydaddy abbydaddy I look forward to renewing this story in my mind each year, hard to believe this is ten years. I have never entered because I had no young boy in my life up to now, however we now have a grandson, born to my older daughter in November. I am not entering this year because he is too young (and probably for the next few years) but I admire that you continue to do this GAW each year. Best wishes to all that enter and learn from your brothers story. I am going to brag with a picture though! OH

That time of the year again, hard to believe. Very sorry, once again abbydaddy abbydaddy for your loss, but thank you for telling us about your dear brother, and for running this annual memorial giveaway. I'm about to hit the hay here, but I have a copy of 'Scouting for Boys' to throw in, hopefully I can find a Scout Knife of sorts, (I'll update this post), and if I can arrange it, (because I don't have one myself), I'll try to add a copy of the August 2023 issue of Knife Magazine, with mine and H herder 's article on English Boy Scout Knives :thumbsup:
