Internet reality check : When a new item is posted by a dealer, that does not always mean they have them in hand. Out of stock means there are no items in stock, as in they have not arrived yet, not sold out already.....Everybody does it.....They just showed up at a dealer but says they are all out of stock already. I thought that was odd. For a bit there it felt like they were leaning back into carbon but I guess notNo CS yet.![]()
Disappointing. I live in a literal swamp and have no use for Case's Tru-Sharp stainless. I abhor the aesthetics of a polished stainless blade and, for me, it only gets worse once it starts picking up scuffs and scratches.I thought that was odd. There's a few that look good to me, the amber bone and natural bone look good as always, but I might hold off a bit to see if there are any CV offerings.View attachment 2469948
Initially 14 handle materials being offered. Currently all are preorders. I think the single blade with the smooth antique bone and threaded bolsters is the best looking of the bunch.
Yeah, the single blade antique bone is the most appealing to me as well.View attachment 2469948

This is where I'm at. I have a purple barnboard Barlow I ordered because I wanted a Case Barlow and figured they wouldn't release any in carbon steel - their Tru-Sharp stainless doesn't really turn me on, though. There's a few that look good to me, the amber bone and natural bone look good as always, but I might hold off a bit to see if there are any CV offerings.
Was it Appaloosa bone from the smoky store? That’s the one I missed the last two years! I will NOT miss it this year.Yeah, the single blade antique bone is the most appealing to me as well.
Last year I had my eye on the peacock bone congress (I think that's what it was) but I dwaddled and it sold out. I won't make that mistake this year.

Yep, that was it! I didn't know it was available in previous years. I'll keep my eye out for it.Was it Appaloosa bone from the smoky store? That’s the one I missed the last two years! I will NOT miss it this year.![]()
Well now that everyone is eyeballing MY knife the FOMO has kicked in and I'm afraid to wait for the release. Pre order it is.I pre-ordered the Smooth Antique Bone which looks really good same website also gave me a chance to preorder a barlow toodamn it.
With luck it might center itself some as you use it. I have a trapper that I made a hard user because of the off center blades and after a year I realized it had shifted into place. No idea how. If you only have one from this run the antique bone is probably the one to pick.View attachment 2526442
I did a preorder on the antique bone and it finally arrived. I will say this is a great handle material, love the color. I have had a pretty good run of luck with Case fit and finish lately, so had fairly high hopes. But this one leaves a bit to be desired. Blade is off center, about as close as you can get without actually rubbing on the liner. Pull is a decent 6, with solid snap opening and closing. Typical slight Case backspring gap. At the half stop position, the backspring protrudes quite a bit, and is slightly sunken when fully opened. I usually like to check out the yearly vault release, glad I did, but think I’m good for the rest of this run.
