I should be getting my blades back from the heat treatment facility tomorrow. Not sure which one will end up used for KITH. This is vanadis 4 extra, the shorter ones are about 100mm / 4" blade length. I have something special in mind for the handle, will post more progress pics as I go along.

It was a longer weekend here in CZ with a public holiday on Monday, so I thought I will get ahead on KITH but in the end I got stuck with fixing mistakes and redoing parts.
What I'm trying to do is what I call a dogmeat keyhole design - the bolster has the keyhole "joint" with the rest of the handle, but the blade and bolster are obviously not one piece as you might expect from a keyhole design.
I will provide the SVG file if anyone wants to use it - I am building one of the designs near the bottom of the canvas (I usually move down with my iterations). Credit is where credit is due - I started with tracing a knife called "Puma" from E. Scott Mcghee (you can still see the tracing there), but eventually it evolved into something that I hope is not a straight copy.

I messed up the first guard so I made another one

But the fit ended up being subpar (tight but with some light coming through from random places). So I started again, rounded the legs on the guard, and traced it on a new piece of stock.

I made these filing buttons that really helped with getting the center portion of the keyhole correct. I will have to file the rest to fit later on. Blade is almost ready.

A beautiful knife, but it looks like a sgian dubh to me.

meteorite damascus blade with 4 different meteorites in it muonionalusta,campo del cielo,aletai,gebel kamil.
4 1/2 inch blade 3 1/2 inch handle.
quenched in parks 50.
it needs a handle sheath and a better etch with some gator piss"acid" certainly doable by the 1st of DEC.

the blade is signed with my signature and kith knife 2024 on the opisite side of the blade.

It was ready for handles yesterday afternoon so, I took the next logical step and did a complete regrind on it… It’s ready for handles again.

I decided to make 2 more in hopes that one of them turns out the way I envision it. The thought of sending one of my knives to another knife maker is nerve wracking… They’ll stay lightly clamped until at least Friday when, at the rate I’m going, I may well decide none of them are good enough and start over…

So handles on one, polishing the spare just in case.. Filework and handles tomorrow or Thursday.. Only issue now is a postal strike.

Having a spare is a good idea. I was finishing up the one I wanted to put in the hat, by putting my mark on the blade, and screwed it up.
I've got another ready to go, but it's not the one I wanted.
Maybe I'll start another and see, deadline is getting closer
