Well, the year has come to an end and I was reflecting on the knife that I am most happy I purchased and the one that I wish I had not sold.
Here's the purchase that I'm most happy with.

And here's the one I really wish I hadn't sold.

What are ya'll greatest gains and losses? Pics appreciated. Happy New Year Bladeforums!

I’ve given up on the finding just the “1” folding knife I could live with for the rest of my life. So new years resultion is to find my “Just 7 folding knives” , one for each day, I could live with for the rest of my life.

Just received the #3 spot today. A Spartan. Wanted one of these for a long time and the action on this one is excellent.

So my plan is to try and only have 1 folding knife from 1 company. I could possibly have 2 from same company as long as total number of my favorites doesn’t go over 7. If I find a new model or step up $ wise to a different company 1 of the others will have to go.

Posting my favorite three for the last of the year 2024.

I've been a fan of alox SAKs for a long time but for some reason never got a 7/Harvester. Finally got one last week and I'm liking it far more than expected. Not sure it will bump my Electrician out for preferred "civilized" carry but will be a fantastic addition to the hiking pack. An SAK with a saw is just right in the outdoors.

For me this has been ONE HELL OF A GOOD KNIFE YEAR !
I could gush on and on 'till even I would get embarrassed.

To keep it short :
Highest highpoint my REX 121 Sage . I never imagined I would ever get a chance to experience this steel out side of a custom that I would probably never have ordered.

Low point my several Case Knives (which could be included in the high point category at the same time if it were not for the REX121). The low comes from getting an upper end Case with say Black Water Buffalo nicely jigged and polished scales and then seeing how LITERALLY COCKEYED and lopsided the thicknessing of the scales are from one side to the other. I mean even taking into account the inconsistent nature of this natural material it is like the worker (I hesitate to use the word crafts person) momentarily fell asleep against the grinding / buffing wheel. I mean how else could they have done that to the knife unless they had their eyes shut ! ! !

Still though the combination of say, a mini trapper Case pattern with S35VN steel and the one Wharncliffe blade and the other BEAUTIFUL Case clip blade in jigged black water buffalo is an IMPORTANT knife for me and I dig the hell out of it.

I would like to say to the workers at Case : these knives are a form of jewelry ; they are not like tent stake pegs cut from a branch.
WAKE UP.
