Stainless Steel = 440C?
I really want to know this too, as I think gec's 440c is done exceptionally well. For me it performs on par with benchmades 154cm. I know lately they've been using 420 HC on those fishing and fruit knives, and even though I'm going to buy this run of 86s, I would be let down if they downgraded to 420 HC because they're 440C is just that good.

Would they be so sorry as not to use 440C? The omission of the steel type is very suspicious

From looking at the pictures of previous runs vs. the current yellow micarta posted above I've noticed the nail nick has been moved toward the pivot. Makes the blade look a bit unbalanced with a longer tip to me. I'm sure the profile of the blade is most likely the same as before and it's a bit of an optical illusion.
