It's that time again! Time to reflect on how the year has gone, and your favorite Buck knife. Specifically, what's the favorite Buck knife you got this year? A BOTY if you will. It doesn't have to be new, just new to you.

I only have a handful of Buck fixed blades, but somehow the 104 in 3V was my BOTY last year.

This year, it was either going to be the Mace Windu 112 BOTM, or the 301 in green paperstone with leftover Bladeforums blades. I've carried them quite a bit this year.

Then I got this fantastic 112 in oak and 5160 that's been in my pocket every day for the last month or so. What a great knife!

Still doesn't top a new 102 in 5160! I got it in the same box as the 112, and it's been put to work in the kitchen. Processing turkey on Thanksgiving, prying stuck cornbread out of the pan, and slicing endless apples for snacks. I already appreciated the 102, and this one just kicks the awesomeness up a couple levels.

I'd really love to hear about some of your favorite Buck knives this year. (Particularly if anyone chooses that 104 in Magnacut. I got one, and everything about it ticks the right boxes but it hasn't replaced last years 104 in my kitchen yet.)

Many of my favorite Buck knives are ones that I don't carry or use.
So to play in this thread I'll choose these two cousins as my favorites for BOTY.
The brown Micarta 110 Slim Pro is one that I carry and use most often. It's durable, lightweight and carries real easy, clipped in my pocket. It has S30V which is a great steel, stays sharp and sharpens easily.
The limited edition 'Oil Slick' titanium 110 Slim Pro TRX is my current favorite for CF & CF. Magnacut steel, an unusual finish on an unusual handle material. Handsomely, striking knife.

That's a good choice.🤔
.....both of them.

I've bought a handful of Buck knives this year - 379, Spitfire, Vantage, custom 55s and 119, 500, Saunters and the Mini Range Pro. Since delivery, when I reach for a Buck it has been the Mini Range Pro, I have to make a decision to not toss it in my pocket and carry something else. So I guess it would be my BOTY.

My BOTY is my rebladed 501. In the summer of 2024 I found two 1978-80 501s at the local knife shop (old English script, maroon micarta covers, 440C blade, etc.). One was in excellent condition and the other was kind of rough with some dings and an overly sharpened blade. I bought the better of the two at that time. In the spring of 2025 the other 501 was still there, with a price tag of $20 (as I said, it was "rough"). I bought it, spent another $7 to ship it to Buck, and paid $10 for a SPA and reblade. It came back all polished up with the dings buffed out and a new 2025 420HC blade. Can't beat a brand new $37 Buck 501!

Looking back I think I somehow only acquired a single Buck knife this year so I have no other choice, but that's okay because it was actually in the running for my Traditional knife of the year.

Having only handled a 112 for a brief moment a few years ago I didn't really know how I'd like it when I bought the knife on eBay, I basically just knew what to expect in a lock back made by Buck knives.
I received the knife in the mail and have loved it far more than I even imagined I would.

It was like getting my 110 on the day I graduated highschool , but I wasn't afraid to use it or worried about keeping the brass pristine.
I have a hard time difinitively saying that I like it more than the 110, but I think I might.
It feels so great in hand, and is a more reasonable size.
I like the 110, but when I can more than get by most of the time with a 505 or 305 carrying my 110 can sometimes make me question myself.

I only bought one knife this year. Honestly the first knife I’ve bought in several years. It was a Buck 503. I bought it on vacation in the U.P. Recycled picture.IMG_2025.jpegBut I’ve really been reconnecting with my old AG stag 110 this year.Honorary mention is the 119. Once again not a new knife but the past couple of years have really come to appreciate the 119.

I responded to one of the Buck Knives marketing emails last summer; one of the knives offered was this 846 Vantage Force. I ordered one while looking the offerings; absolutely one of my most carried knives for the balance of the year. I only bought three Buck Knives this year (no Case and no Schrade USA), gave one of the Buck’s as a gift - the Force is a home-run for me.
