2025 Reboot - Winter is Coming! Time to break out your favorite jackets!

timeless super cool there.....

Thanks bud. Used to have a huge amount of vintage jackets, vests and also reproductions. I’m now down to a “manageable” number. Definitely easier to store and maintain knives. Like this hobby, there are forums and people that go full bore with their knowledge & collections.

Are you on TFL or VLJ ?

I was given this jacket as a Christmas gift from some good friends:

A shirt/jacket style is pretty popular in the cowboy world. Kinda works well for what we do. This is made by Victory. It's a melton wool exterior with a thin polar tech fleece on the inside. It punches above its weight warmth wise. I've done quite a bit of tractoring in it and I appreciate the extra length for sitting on that cold seat. Wide enough in the back to fit over the cantle of my saddle when I ride.

Kinda funny because I have three other shirt/jacs. Two light weight ones and a medium weight wool one that I've posted in this thread before pg 2 post #31. I was looking for a little heavier one and Had spent quite a bit of time looking for one with no success. I open the box Christmas morning and go "How did they know?"

I do like variety. Here are two I think you will like. I also have too many of these same jackets in canvas and denim. Love’em.

Nice color on the top one.
The diamond quilted padding isn't my thing, but I do appreciate it being different from the normal boring ( only because there's millions of them) black cross zip.

Very nice Aero, is it a reproduction of a Cal ?

It was raining here today too, but it didn't phase this Lesco at all ( recycled pic taken last week )

Nice Lesco. Their brown hide ages very well. Beautiful stuff. I used to have their CR. Great jacket you got there.

Likely based on Cal but could be any number of makers from the 50s/60s making CHPs. Some basic mods on mine, like the laces deleted. Started off a sweet Midnight Blue HH but the brown is really wearing through. I like it but sometimes miss the truer blue. I’ll post my LW CHP soon- based on Trojan but look a lot like Cal too.

They really are great and can be pretty attainable since Lesco flies under the radar a bit, but I don't really see Lesco on ebay much.

Deleting the laces was a good call, it cleans up the look a lot without changing it very much.

I've become very fond of this Schaeffer Outfitter's Wool Overshirt:

Here it's at the Grand Canyon in a snow storm. It's perfect by itself for a lot of times and here I was wearing an insulated vest underneath, its sized just right for layering. Yet it doesn't look like a tent by itself. It oozes quality when you put it on. I bought it at their booth at the NFR last year in Vegas and so was able to try it on. I'm normally an XLT and while they don't come in tall sizes the 2XL worked perfectly again without the tent deal.
Just picked up one of these overshirts after admiring them for a good while. Got the taupe color. Was already 25% on sale and then they offered another 20% on top of that with their Prez Day sale. ‘Bout had to twist my arm for me to go for it.

The fabric is soft and very comfortable. I’ve grown accustomed to and actually like stiffer, coarser wool, but this thing is just plain nice. Only thing I might change is adding a button or zipper to the inside pockets.

They are pretty darn nice! I get lots of compliments on mine.
