Time to get this up and running. We had some hard freezes and more frosts than normal where I live in NE FL. My citrus trees took it hard and will take years to recover, if at all.

But, my plum tree has more blossoms than ever before.

I have a couple juvenile peach trees that have also started to flower.

Several years back, I put some mango seeds in pots and was lucky enough that they grew, and seem to be healthy enough to flower! They are about 8’ tall and spend the winter in my barn. Just moved them outside again.

The freeze killed what was gonna be a bumper crop of Tomatoes and Pole Beans here in Melbourne.Fl

A couple of pineapples fruited, and the mangos are getting bigger!

I lost a lot of my pineapple plants maybe 30 or so got killed off from the hard freeze down here. other half are alive still and handful are producing fruit already. mine are all in the soil not pots so they had to suffer the freeze. been super dry here as i dont like to irrigate..so I dont expect much this year out of them. bad run on my sugar cane too. not so much the freeze more the lack of rain. ill have to get new new seed stock this fall to plant and start over most likely.

im bout to overseed couple acres with argentine bahia. waiting for more rain hopefully this month......

Do you grow sugar cane for harvest & sell or do you use it to make moonshine? Serious question! 🙋🏻

Sounds like a cool snack on a warm day!
its tasty. I grow it more for the wife...she grew up chewing it. I like it, but its kinda rare where I live.....I get plants from north florida farms. couldnt find any down here. way south plenty of it...but im in the middle part

on the moonnshine.....guess ya could make some decent shed juice with it....but it'd be illegal so id never do it. plus I quit drinking long ago. never was any good on it.

About 25 years ago I saw sugarcane once in a market in Hawaii & thought it would be a lot of work chewing but I knew it was a treat for locals.

I stopped drinking too. I was very good at it! 😉

not hard..different methods. i do the peel the bark off and chew the stalk. less fibers and mess. some cut it into bite size pieces and remove the bark pieces and chew it that way. I find that makes it fall apart and fiber galore into your mouth and dont like that method myself. some just squeeze it into juice.....but I like to chew the stalk myself.

congrats on the freedom from it. I was pretty good at it too, maybe too good....which i translate into not any good at it when I looked at how I was and my life was with it......

ive distracted this thread, sorry. get it back on track..... here's some of my current pinepaples...theyre in a sorry state without irrigation.....

My pineapples have to stay in pots or they would all get frosted to death. We had about an inch of rain last weekend, which helped some, but I’m having to hand water everything every other day. And, we’ve been hitting the low 90s already. Hopefully more rain this weekend!

Damn tree rats ate all of my mangos already. Didn’t even let them get any color change!
