.22 For survival

I still have an old Glenfield Model 25. My Grandfather bought it back when Sears & Robuck was around and selling guns, lol. Still a tackdriver!

For plain wilderness survival where I live, I'd be very happy to make my only firearm a .22

The main thing that I don't like about tube magazines is that it is harder to make the gun 'safe' in a short time. You have to be careful that there isn't a cartridge hidden in there somewhere. With a single shot, or a clip magazine things are more obvious.

If people are worried about the tube coming undone, perhaps a bit of bicycle inner tube stretched around the barrel and tube might help hold the tube in position. I can't picture how each tube mag might be, but it might work for some configurations.

For a while I used a small Browning semi-auto .22 with a tube mag up the stock. Dang that was a nice little gun. I fitted it with a moderator. Shot some relatively 'big' game with it too.

Yep -- I've got the black one and the brown one, both tube feed. Probably 2 of the most dependable little rifles made. I'll never sell mine.

I bought mine used years ago fo $59. A good friend shot it and "had to have one". He paid $280 at a gun-show and told me it was the cheapest one there.
