i think the .22LR is a great gun to have in a survival/bug out situation.. it's still fairly inexpensive to shoot too.. i am debating on saving up some pennies(selling some knives) for a Ruger 10/22 rifle...
i have wanted one for years...
There's plenty of very, very good bolt and semi-auto .22s out there for around $100. Don't be afraid of the old western field and ranger models. Best shooting .22 rifle I've ever owned is my ranger 116 (savage 87S) from the late 30s. $65 used.
