Bruise, given the nature of .22 ammo, lot's of values in used (AKA "tested") .22 pistols are out there at gun shows.

If yuo're gonna' print more money, remember - nothing bigger than a $20 this time. Those $100's are real hard to pass. :D

I had one exactly like that for many years. Had a little leather pocket holster for it, that had the patina of much carry. Quite a little blaster. The delicate mechanisms would fail every few years, but NAA always fixed them up good as new for me with no charge.

Howard, did you ever put any shotshells through it? I'd be keenly interested to know how they pattern. Given the chance, I'm happy to let a snake go it's merry way, he lives there, I'm just visiting. But the water moccasins I encounter out fishing tend to want to push their luck. Could just lop their heads off with my 20" Siru, ala Pappy (who is much missed), but my wee pocket artillery is more discreet than sittin' and fishin' with a short sword on my hip. I may be wrong, but seems to me shotshells would also help minimize ricochet concerns, 22. mag rounds are pretty light and zippy.

Sarge,

I had a .22LR version of that that I pocket carried for awhile. I traded it in. I was quite honestly afraid I'd blow something off that I would miss quite a bit:eek: The model I had was so small I didn't think I could reliably cock and fire it during stress--but the fear of pocket discharge (for lack of a better term:o ) was too much.

I have the .22 mag version I take backpacking with me. I have shotshells I will test it out. Up to about 15 yards it shoots pretty decent even. Really good sights on it, adjustable!

I used to carry a .45 then a 9, then a full size 6" Charter Arms Pathfinder. In 20 years I hever had to use any so I switched to the Mini Master cause it's ultralight but you can still use the .22 mag shotshells! At one point the cylinder pin stuck and I had to send it in. Apparently it was a design problem cause they had some sort of retrofit they do on it!

I'd love to find one of the little Walthers in good condition looking for an adoptive home. I have a good friend with one...wonder if he'd ever part with it?

I like that little NAA of yours too Hollow...haven't seen any at the local shows though.

Yes, I tried some 22 mag shotshells. You may want to pattern them out on cardboard. I think they would be a pretty good discouragment on a snake out to 6' or so. If he's further than that best to let him slither on his merry way.

I remember one free weekend I had down in Huntsville, Alabama. I went out to explore the surrounding countryside. It was hot and humid. I found a little lake and sat down on the shore in an isolated spot to read a book. I happened to look up and saw in the water just a couple feet away from me a long brown snake, coming towards me and his eyes were definitely on me. I hopped up right quick and gave him a little space.

Anybody remember the little (and pricy!) Walther TPH .22? Great little guns, and illegal for import at the time I think. Owned one briefly but when I started driving cab in the early '80's did a deal for a less expensive and more practical Walther / Manhurin PPK/S in .380 and carried that daily for 3 years.

TPH was legal...the TPK was restricted sales to LE only.

Yeah...nice pieces.

I have had two Rugers - the long barrel Mark II and the bull barrel Mk II.
I have had no jams. Both are great - I sold the long barrel model. They are accurate guns - they shoot better than I can hold them.

I also have a 4" double action Smith model 17 in 22. Great gun, and I recommend that new shooters learn on a revolver.

I took my daughter out shooting for the first time, and she hated the Smith revolver, and loved the heavy Ruger target gun.

She would not go near my GP 100-357. Even with 38 ammo, she didn't like the blast/noise.

I have a stainless Walther TPH 22lr made by Interarms, a well made piece in a small package and ya it was pricey.

I think Nasty was speaking of the new Walther .22's the P22. (?) They are a nice little package, but I have heard of some reliability and feeding problems with them. They did a run last year in green instead of black. The make a 3.4" barrel version and a 5" target version I believe, with a compensator of all things. Pretty reasonably priced for what you get. The local Outdoor World has the 3.4" one for about $240. I believe you can also change the grip panels.

I was looking at one last year, but then Salyans or some other HI knife came along and that was all she wrote. :)

BTW, thanks for the clarification on the TPH Nasty. I knew that one of them was undersized for import under the '68 GCA, and thought it was the TPH. I just traded for it and kept that to myself...

Well, I'm not sure. I was visiting some friends that own a goat farm down on a small tributary of the Amazon river. We had just finished a few after dinner drinks when we heard a shrill shreaking noise and terrified bleating of the goats...........................  .....;)

In the '80s, Interarms was the North American Import Agent for Carl Walther Sportwaffen GMBH., Arnsberg, Deutschland.

A friend of mine was a new out of school gunsmith, whom worked there.
He test fired PP's, PPK's and PPK/S's all day.
