$25-$35 edc

I recently go a Ken Onion CRKT Shenanigan PPS and, with shipping & tax, I paid under $29. I've been using this flipper for a couple days and really like it for EDC tasks. It's a deeper carry than most of my folders (but it doesn't compare to my Al Mar SERE 2000--that's deep!) and it's a tip down but the ergos are great and the AUS8 was razor sharp out of the box. The handle is "polyphenylene sulfide" (hence, the PPS) and I've not encountered that material in a knife handle before; it's a very light knife. At work I want a knife that has a stronger "feel" to it and I don't know that I'd feel comfortable using the Shenanigan PPS in that context. But for under $30, I think it's a great knife for daily light/medium tasks.

The Kershaw RJ1 is pretty sweet, that was my first good knife and I still love it. Also the Spyderco Tenacious is a perfect budget knife even though it doesn't really fit any of your criteria haha

That's funny! I was thinking the same thing! I really like my Tenacious as an inexpensive EDC; it's tougher than I though it was going to be but it doesn't fit his criteria.

You are asking for a lot of features for that price range.
Two of my favorite budget knives:
SOG twitch ii - all metal, AO flipper, lock back, and some of the best AUS-8 i've ever encountered.
Kershaw salvo - all steel frame lock, thin profile, and American made.

I'd say the strongest contender is the Kershaw Cryo. I have one and am very impressed for the price. I'll get the larger C2 when it comes out. The Cryo is about $31

I have a Tenacious and I love it, but it's a little to big for me to EDC it.

Would I get closer to those features if I double the price range? Say maybe up to $75?

Another vote for the Kershaw Cryo. The only thing I have against it is that it's just too small in my hand, but I love the design and blade geometry. I finally stepped up to a ZT 0560, but way out of the price range you stated, as well as size.

For a good inexpensive knife, I got a Kershaw Crown. It's not a hard-use knife by any means, but the long thin blade can be quite useful, and it's a good-looking knife. $15-$20 at Wally World.

Seems like a lot of consistent votes on the Cryo. I was a little concerned about the weight/size ratio, but that comes with my choice of full metal construction  I may have to go with the Cryo.

I ordered a Benchmade Nagara from a site this weekend, I think it came to $53 shipped, unfortunately it's got the Harley logo on the blade, but whatever. Titanium scaled, a locking mechanism that's better (to me) than a conventional liner lock, sort of a shared benefit with the CRKT Auto-Lawks folders I like so much, decent enough 9cr steel, and the shape reminds me, again, of what I love about my CRKT, and that is the kind of slender, straight lines of it.

Looks like it will be comfortable to carry and have a nice nimble blade and handle. And I plan on getting my ladyfriend one of the prettier Nak-lock equipped knives this summer, as long as we like the way this one works. It's nice to get a scrimmage with her birthday present.

I'm not really up on Kershaw, a coworker who used to work at a Cabela's loves them though. Seems like they have a lot of great sub-$100 knives available though, and I do keep looking at them when I shop for a new knife.

Ok the Tenacious looks like a lot of knife for the money. You would probably get more mileage out of it than most other thirtyish dollar knives.

G10, flat ground blade, Spyderco. I don't care for them aesthetically but they are such a solid company you couldn't go wrong with one.

I have a Tenacious and I love it, but it's a little to big for me to EDC it.

As mentioned, I already have a tenacious and I want something a little smaller. Its a fantastic knife but it's most frequently like hunting squirrels with a .50 cal. I'd prefer something with a little more of a fun factor and a little less bulk.

then check out the Nagara, 10700 or 13470 I think the model numbers are, they are out there for as little as fifty if you can live with the Harley name across the blade.

I can't find them for that cheap anywhere :( If I really didn't like the logo, I could always take it off. I think if I go for a benchmade though I would have to go a little higher for a mini-grip.

Then why not the Persistence? Or Ambitious? Then again CRKT Drifter was recommended ya cannot go wrong with that for smaller EDC.

I ended up getting the Cryo, and I'm pretty happy with it so far :D thanks for all the recommendations

You will not be disapointed with the Cryo. It holds an edge very well and is easy to keep sharp. I strop the blade weekly and haven't needed to sharpen with a stone in the 2 months since I got it.
