Well, it's officially "in the works"
We shall see how it comes out.
Steel fittings, no cho creep, wood handles.
I think it will be the pefect fighting khukuri...

I dont know ecatly how its going to turn out, but I am hoping for a nice long handle, a deep, sexy fuller and a big-ass karda. If its big enough, I might stick in a JKM.
I had a 30" Gelbu, but I think 25" might be ideal for a battlefield type khukuri.
Of course, the war museum and war collection picture books show just about every conceivable type of khukuri having been used in India and Nepal and Tibet.
Everything HI offers and many they dont. They're all good!

Still, I have had every kind of Gelbu and I think this one will be "The One."

...and I'm in for the other 25" GS.

Great idea, Danny- let's keep the kami's busy!

What a great custom khuk this will be.

Ad Astra    :D :p

You'll have to attack or defend against some Hordes so we know how well it does in the field as a test. Edge retention, whether it gets stuck; all that kind of stuff.

Any idea what this big Khuk will weigh? Is the bolster going to be steel or white metal?

The 25" Malla weighs in at 38 oz., so possibly around 36 oz. for the GS. YCS is 36 oz. also, IIRC.

Ideal for thrashing Zombies, fascists, mummies, Bears, snakes, gators, looters, and anyone who doesn't like sushi & Gulf Coast seafood.

Ad Astra  :footinmou   :D

I think I would like to be put on the list for one of these.

Kind of hard to say no to " the pefect fighting khukuri... "

w/ a large karda to match ... that could be a very nice 10/10 rig

chandan handles? antler? engraved?

the steel fittings are nice touch.

I guess we'll just see how the first one comes out.
It really is kind of a lottery of sorts....
I hope they will be perfect, but I like their individual idiosyncrasies too, ya know?

Yeah, it really is amazing how unique each knife is. I got a pair of 15" sirupates a while back. I emailed UB / Yangdu and asked if they could pick a pair out that were well matched to each other. They did, and they are, but they are also so completely different it is incredible.

Quiet day around here today.

Can't wait to see how these came out, the GS is my favorite. I was contemplating special-ordering a standard-cho 21" version...

I think it will be THE perfect khukuri.
(Although the light and long foxies are amazing)
I will try to actually make a satori-styled demo video of this one....

Patience pays...

Thank you, Yangdu.

Himalayan Imports has the best customer service.

Can't wait to see this one.

______________

Have been waiting six long weeks for a knife from another company.

Emailed two days ago and got the courtesy of a robot reply.

I know the-company-who-shall-remain-nameless has a great product, but HI's personal spin on things and quick shipping makes the big guys look bad by comparision.

It arrived today and I am still playing with it.
The handle is fine and stout.
Nice streaks in the wood. The fittings are steel, very fine, good fit and finish.
You definitely feel the weidht of a 25 inch GS, but I would not call it heavy.
It is just what I expected and hoped it would be.
The Karda and chakma are not special, just the standard versions ( but hey, who really cares?)
I plan on getting this one a YCS karda.
I am going to try and take this one to a bamboo thicket and do some video, but I dont know how to post that. Can someone help ?

In an ironic twist, I'm going to be PLANTING some bamboo...

Spreading vs. clumping, both are dangerous and spread quickly. However, tigers are known to frequent bamboo thickets so I'll probably like it a lot.

Maybe instead some sugar cane- it's easier to get rid of but looks similar.

I don't have one tree on my property anymore, probably why I test khukuris on fish.

An unbelievable custom khukuri. Many thanks, Yangdu!
