A magnet holds the blade closed, you can't shake it loose.
Right hand thumb must hold blade out. (I'm a lefty and I wouldn't recommend rying to use it left handed as you'd have to cut upwards)
Really, I can't make it work any way in the left hand, but most of us lefties are ambidextrous.
