How many belts did you go through?

Not too many for the bevel, I use 3m cubitron belts at slow speed. A newer 40 grit belt will remove Ti quickly then an 80 grit after that works great for the majority of metal removal. The 40 grit belts seem to last forever but a new 80 grit is key. After that I usually use a new 165, 65 then 45 gator belt to finish the grinding. (120, 320 and 400 grit) I do the same thing on the flats with the used belts then clean up the grind (often with a new 600 belt) one last time to crisp it up. This one was garnet blasted and tumbled for a durable finish.

Ti has a lower hardness than hardened steel but is trickier to grind because it smears or grabs the belt. It concentrates heat well too; it will burn your thumb with no warning. :D Overall it really isn't bad, just grind slow and don't let it spark. Wear UV protection!

I'm used to grinding fully hardened steel and thick knives so this was in a way typical. I ground a hardened 18" .262" thick chopper then hand sanded it to 600 recently, that was serious!

Sharpening Ti is easy, just build up a small burr on the beveled side then strop it off. Keep the burr as small as possible, the burr is a bit tougher than normal to remove. Just about any setup will work, I recommend a ceramic rod and leather strop.
