.27" & .14"

You should still be able to find one pretty easy if you need one

I would love one! If anyone has a lead on where to find one please drop me an email or pm. :)

So what about the .14" ones?

Do they have a thinner grind?

I have a .22 one and it's a great knife and feels great in the hand but the grind is somewhat steep so it doesn't cut as deep of some of my other blades of similar size.

I love the design though:thumbup:

The .27" wardens look cool, but has anyone actually tried to cut anything with one? I have a .22" "bruiser" warden, which feels very nice in the hand, but it's about as useful for slicing as a brick. This is with the factory edge, though. It's also very heavy, which is fine in the living room and in the safe, not so much for EDC. I like my .14" OJ warden much, much better- it goes with me everywhere in a thin Krein Kydex sheath with the tek-lok removed. I just drop it in my pocket and I'm good to go.
You know, I thought the idea of a FAT warden would be cool. But now that I have one, it's great to look at but not so great to use. Even after I convexed it, sure it slices things good but only if they're not thick things. Cutting an apple for instance, it just doesn't work. It also didn't come sharp.
I got a skele Rat warden yesterday and it has the best factory edge I've yet to see on a knife.
After I'm done polishing my fatty warden, it's going up on the exchange. I'd love a .14 warden like an OJ or a smog or a .17 warden...
*edit* I think there should be two classifications of Warden's...
Slicer Warden and Pummeling Warden :D

Is this a trick question? Half as thick, with the same full flat grind?

Yes.

Rick

Well mine doesn't have a full flat grind. It has a flat grind with a secondary bevel so the thicker one COULD have a finer edge depending on the length and angle of the secondary. Not sure if I made myself clear there:confused:

The expression "full flat" as I used it applies to the primary grind, which is what your knife has.

It has a flat grind with a secondary bevel so the thicker one COULD have a finer edge depending on the length and angle of the secondary.

Simple geometry shows that if the back of the knife is twice as thick, the included angle must be twice as large, right? I realize you are describing the geometry of the actual edge, but I can't imagine anyone screwing up sharpening to that extent.

If someone has a scale around I'd love to know how much that Fatty Warden weighs. :)

Both of my Satin + Tan Canvas Micarta ones weigh in at just a tad under 7.5 ounces.

I would be curious to see the weight difference between a micarta and G10 .27" GW. G10 is a bit heavier material so there would be a difference.

The Fat G-10 GWs are just under 8 ounces.
