2K Post GAW - Winner post #1

Congratulations to our worthy winners, and thanks again for a very generous giveaway :)

Daniel, thanks for the on going surprise GAW. I'll be waiting in suspense to see the prizes that await the winners.
Congrats to the winners and Merry Christmas to all.

I Sent it again Daniel!
This is Bladeforums way of telling me not to let my Gold Membership lapse...

Christmas has come early!!!

Daniel's package was originally scheduled to arrive tomorrow in NJ, but the USPS is evidently really on the ball this Yuletide. It came today! When I saw in the tracking link that it had been delivered this morning, I scooted home on my lunch hour to grab the package and scooted back here to post.

Because Macchina had first dibs and opted for Box B, I became the lucky recipient for Box A. I now know that "A is for awesome!"

First, the knife, and I apologize in advance for the bad indoor iPhone photos:

It is a 93-mm silver Alox Pioneer Pruner:

What an A-for-Awesome GAW knife! It ticks a few boxes for me: it's my first ever Alox SAK. It's a rare spear point blade in my collection. And the combination of the spear and hawkbill make for incredible utility in a very slim package. Thank you so much, Daniel. This one will ride in my pocket a lot, no doubt, and will be a jack-of-all-trades around the house and office.

As promised, Daniel included a host of goodies as pictured here:

In addition to a nice handwritten note with the obligatory coin attached, Daniel sent along:

-- a Mast Store Outfitters sticker
-- a BFWS patch
-- a wonderful card with Scripture verse
-- a bar of beeswax
-- a Shelby Co P-38 survival kit can opener, and
-- a multitool. Belt hook (or money clip), bottle opener, screwdriver/scraper, etc.

All in all, an amazing GAW package and a wonderful early Christmas gift! I'm thrilled to be the recipient.

Daniel, I hope this Christmas finds you and yours happy and healthy!

WOW! The box Daniel sent me is in my city but won't make to me until tomorrow... Seeing what was in box A has me extremely excited to open Box B!

I don't know the age of that Pioneer Pruner (a fantastic knife that has my 2 favorite SAK blades in a slim frame) but I think that means Box B was the vintage box! I was certainly hoping that would be the case. I am refreshing tracking hourly to see if the US Mail gets ambitious today...

Oh wow. I kid you not when I say Christmas has come early, and very likely this is THE GIFT of the season for me!

The mailman delivered all of our mail today, gifts for others, a package for my wife, but no box from Daniel!!! I was sad...
It wasn't 2 minutes after I came back inside that there was knock on the door, the mailman had dropped a box behind his bin and happened to have found it while still on our street! It was BOX B!!!!

Inside I really did find treasure. The knife (as Daniel so kindly wrote) is an equal end jack with no tang stamps. I'd be happy with a custom built this well! Walk and Talk is excellent with perfect pulls on cam tangs. 2 carbon blades with tons of room to get at the nicks, tight and snappy with tons of life left on the blades. I don't know who sharpened this last (Daniel or the previous owner who loved it so much) but it's a razor. As Daniel wrote, the bone has been repaired on the mark side extremly well, the repair seems to have about as much carry time on it as the rest of the knife and makes it really unique, the repairer even jigged the repair very well to blend into the existing jigging of the bone: a very well done job and really cool to see work like this. I kid you not, this knife kicked the TC Barlow out of my pocket that just arrived yesterday!

Also in the package is an extremly nice (custom?) pen in a wood with extreme depth to it I've only seen in Bloodwood before. Also a natural Arkansas Whetstone from Dan's and a penny to top everything off. The pen is just fantastic and ironically though I have a lot of diamond stones left over from when I used supersteel modern folders, I do not have an Arkansas stone and forgot how much I miss the smell and sound of steel on an oiled stone from my childhood (my Grandpa gave me an Arkansas and his old Buck 112 when I was 12 to learn to sharpen).

What a gift, I am extremely happy! I've already used the knife and pen and can't wait to put some carbon steel on this stone.

Thank you so very much Daniel, I love this place!

Congratulations guys, those are great prizes! Thanks for sharing them with us and thank you Daniel for making this Holiday Season a bit more fun for us all. -Merry Christmas-

I would say that box B = bonetastic! That's a good-looking Jack! Congrats on the "vintage" box, Macchina, and to Daniel once again for spicing up two Christmases!

No marks on the tangs?

No, both tangs both sides are bare. It's a fantastically made knife, just don't know who fantastically made it!

I apologize for the delay in replying. I was on an annual Christmas backpacking trip so I was off line for a couple of days. It got down to 22 last night and I'm still thawing out.:grumpy:

I'm delighted that everything arrived safely and in time for Christmas! I am also equally delighted that both of you are pleased. Thanks again so much to everyone who participated and from my family to yours, a very merry Christmas.
