well did some tweeking to my 2nd Amendment and got this. I put a "JT Wrap" handle on it. i also notched out the top of the tang so the handle would recess down to be the same hight as the spine. it also locks the handle onto the tang so it cant move. is going to the forsale page.

BIG improvement JT.

This is just constructive criticism... Your grinds look nice and smooth. I would recommend you take the edge down thinner. Especially with a hollow grind. It is more aesthetically pleasing, but most importantly, it is a better cutting geometry.

I think if you do that you will have a whicked little EDC right there :)

Jarod,
That is a big improvement. It was the first thing I noticed about the wrap before. It looked like it could slip on the handle. Is the bottom recessed the same way? Also, are you rounding the edges where the wrap is (to prevent excess wear on the cord)?

I really like the look of the JT Wrap.Did you get a tutorial together yet? I could see myself spending a day or two doing a tsuka-make job on a 15" katana with a JT Wrap.

ya the bottom of the tang has a chanel it sits in as well. ya the handle is not going anywhere. i round out all the edges so it does not cut the cord. i will get a tutorial togather

Looks like a 2-18 sinnet knot pattern ( sort of an 18 layer turks head). Should be a neat tutorial. I for one will promote it as a "JT Wrap" on anything I use it on, with credit and reference to you.

I actually didn't like the other one. I thought the cord sticking up made it look like the wrap was an afterthought. I really like the way this one looks though. The wrap blends smoothly into the rest of the knife.

Just a guess, but looks like a ferric chloride etch over sanding marks going parallel to the blade.

Wonder if you could do a similar effect with a streaked mustard patina? I've used splotched on mustard (horseradish mustard), but I may try streaking some next time to see what it looks like.

not grinding scratches, all the grinding was hallow ground vertical to 400 grit. then a heavy etch to reveal the alloy banding. very strong blade
