Well, here we are! Finally! It's Fall!

It's nearly cool enough to go outside and not break a sweat;):D

Best part is... its hunting season!

This year I will give away another Scrapmax 340 from Knifehunter.com and it will look very similar to this one from last year that was won by KDstrick.

He also received a complimentary free sheath graciously contributed by Dave Brown.

This year Al Welke has graciously offered to make a sheath for this years winner. Many thanks to these two fellow Hogs for helping me make this contest even better:thumbup:

There will be some changes to the rules this year. They are simplified, and as follows:

The contest will be open to any species of deer family- that is a buck with Horns, as long as it was taken legally during the 2014 hunting season for that specific animal in its native habitat. Regardless of weapon used. So, all species are welcome from all continents.

Please try and include the following as more points will be given for doing so:

your favorite Busse-Kin knife, or knife used to field dress animal
date in pics if possible but not required

mostly show and tell of your adventures. Old and new tales will count for extra points especially your participation in this thread prior to posting your entries. Multiple entries welcome. Does are extra points too... Heck, we have to fill the freezer and practice good quality deer managment:thumbup::)

I look forward to hearing the stories around the camp fire!

Now, get out there and chase some tail!:D

Big or small. Its all about the hunt!

all entries are welcome!

ETA: Just like the last year there will be some entries from my website, and this year I have also added facebook.

Good luck to everyone, both in the contest and hunting. I love hunting season and I love hearing hunting stories!

Thanks for the contest, KH!

A lot of fun last year and very generous of you. That etched first-year prize blade turned out great, BTW.

I just hope I'm lucky enough to get a deer to take a picture of...little less winning this contest. Thanks for the extra motivation T!

THanks brother:thumbup:

I was also pleased with how it turned out. Garth made it look good:cool:

I'd love to add a sheath to this one ;)

I will make note in OP.

Awesome contest Brother. Good luck to all my hunting friends.

Garth

Thanks brother. It wouldnt be near as cool without your help with the laser:thumbup::cool:

Here's one for the ladies...

My cousin down in GA took this one earlier this year:thumbup:

She's been hunting for years, and this is not her first, but this was a very memorable day.

I'll play along, for extra points, for now.

I'm on the east coast and work until 6PM 5 days a week including Saturday. I can hunt two family properties, at one of which I can be on stand :15 - :20 after out the door from work. Until the time rolls back to EST, I can hunt during the week after work if I don't dally. This was my birthday, and my best friend and usual hunting partner came along. I hunt a field edge, and he has to pass directly in my line of sight coming and going to his stand in the woods. We text each other when we need to communicate, and he, knowing he would be in the dark long before I would, said I should notify him when I'm ready to go, so that he wouldn't come out before that and disturb me. I had already sent him a text at :28 after sunset asking if he was ready (GA allows hunting until :30 after sunset), and he immediately replied yes. At the same moment I sent the text, though, I made one more swipe of the woodline with my binoculars and followed it up with, "Hold. They're in the food plot."

They came out at my 2 o' clock position, and I, being a right-handed shooter, twisted and turned every way I could to get a prop on my knee, the tree, or anything, but just could not. Knowing I had only a couple minutes of legal shooting light, and therefore no time to wait for them to move around to the left which they weren't seemingly doing anyway, I put the 12-lb. rifle down to rest for a second and decided when I came back up with it, I would center the vitals in the scope and send it, offhand. I did and heard the bullet impact before the percussion echoed back to me off the woods. I looked thru the scope after recovering from the recoil and saw a deer down and heard another running off.

I used my practically mirror-polished-edge Rodent Solution I picked up recently on the exchange for gutting, and, had I known about the contest, would've taken a picture of the deer with the knife in it, but oh well...it's too late now. I intentionally hacked thru 3 ribs, but it held its razor edge. Amazingly, when I changed the SD card out in the trail camera, the deer had been standing right in front of it. I had it set to take 3 burst pictures and then more only if it detects further motion after a minute delay, but I still had a picture of the other deer taking off at the moment of the shot! We're talking about an animal that is fast enough reliably to dodge an arrow moving 200 fps, and the camera caught one mid-stride after the shot only one jump from cover. The timing was absolutely perfect.

For the first time in 32 years I am not deer hunting. May do a few hogs just so there is more for the deer to eat. More to follow.

Woo Hoo! Thats awesome!

Congrats! She looks good. Fat and healthy! Looks like the food plot is paying off:thumbup:

The Rodent solution is a great hunting partner:)

The fact that you caught it all on the trail cam is an incredible achievement by itself:eek:

and since your from GA where I grew up... I like it even more:D

Here's to you

For the first time in 32 years I am not deer hunting. May do a few hogs just so there is more for the deer to eat. More to follow.

Man, I hear ya. I havent had the chance to get in the woods since 2012. Part of the reason I started the contest cause I sure have missed it.

I've havent had the pleasure of taking a Hog, but I sure would like too:thumbup:

So, bring it! If he's real big we might have to start another division especially for Hogs!:D

Either way it would be great to see. Go get em!

Thanks, brother.

Edited to add: Normally hogs' breeding is not a problem, but for the first time in 4 years, I have a hog breeding problem. This evening walking in, I had a 358 in all 4 front pockets so they wouldn't rattle, and a rifle full. If they show, I won't be able to resist posting pics. I may need my bruiser Muck for this. I'm not playing that game.
