Really Really Good Maple Burl - Bigger Blocks
These blocks were all cut from a burl I got from a Veneer Mill owner. This was part of his stash that he had to sell when he went out of business. Much more dramatic figure than your normal maple burl. This is some of the really, really good stuff.

We got the burl over 2 years ago. It was cut into slabs about a year ago then I stashed it in my (unheated) shop. These blocks are most of the way dry, but you should store them in a warm dry place over the winter to allow them to adjust to your climate before using. They should be ready to use this spring.

All these blocks were cut from the same burl but you will see a variety of colors and types of burl figure. The pieces with red/orange areas are called "redheart". This coloring happens sometimes at the center of really big maple burls. A few will have some spalting where the burl was starting to die at the very center. All this makes for a good variety of really dramatic looking handle blocks. These blocks have only been lightly beltsanded at 120 grit. The grain and figure will become much more defined when it is sanded further.

All these blocks are the same price $15 each.
Sorry but no discounts on these blocks. They are even bigger than the last batch but still the same price.

Just post "I'll take #s ...." and I will mark them sold for you. Let me know when you are finished and I will send a PM with your total and payment details.

US shipping is $2.50 each or the cost of a USPS flat rate box. Whichever is less. If you will post pictures of your finished knife here on the forum, I will pay US shipping for you.

Photos show the wood lightly misted with water so you can get a better idea what the figure and colors will be like. They will look even better when you fine sand and finish these. Some blocks will have some bark pockets or voids that could require a small fill if any fall within your handle area.

This is all the blocks for this thread. My recommendation would be to buy all you can afford. Then borrow some money and buy some more. Just kidding. These are really nice blocks that are worth stocking up on.

I know,but it's so purty,i can't help it,but it's all your fault:DRegards Butch

You think that's pretty. Look what I am cutting now. I found another one of my boss's stashes. Figured I better cut it up and get it sold before he finds out.
I will probably have some of this ready tomorrow eve.

I'm not Mark and I haven't stayed at a Holiday Inn recently, but I always get maple burl stabilized. I've done a few orders where it was requested NOT to be stabilized, and I finished it out with a stock maker's finish.

I really prefer stabilized stuff myself though. :)

Mark,
I'll take 793,799, and 811, picking form the left overs is no fun! Let me know if they are available with the total and I'll Paypal you tonight, Thanks Rex

I didn't forget about you Mark, I just check this thread every so often to see if I want to add any more to it. The more I look at it there seem to be one or 2 that went from a quiet whisper to a louder and louder yell. I'm debating on whether or not to see if they start screaming at me or just cut em off in silence and have you ship me the one. :)

Maybe I'll get lucky and someone will buy them and make up my mind for me.
