I want a second 2x72...right now I have a 1x30 I use very little but wanna start using for handle shaping maybe. My big boy is an Esteem that I love the hell out of. I only have a flat platen currently. I'd like a second grinder with a wheel attachment. Dunno why but why not? I'd use the Esteem for bevel work and the other for profiling and learning (at some point) to hollow grind. I really wanna get started on seriously moving knives outta my shop to paying customers and not just friends. My wife would kill me if I bought another over 1 large. I'd like to build one. Being the least mechanically inclined member of these boards I was thinking of buying the usaknifmaker plans and building a little at a time. Thoughts?

check out my plans, pinned at the top of my FB page. Or check out Dan Comeau's plans here: http://sayberosg.com/forum/
Both builds require the majority of the parts be water jet cut from 1/2" plate. you will need to drill a few holes, and tap more. you will also need to supply: motor, wheels, hardware to bolt the plates together and tool arms. I had my water jet done for free, so my build cost me about $500 all in. ( including motor and VFD)

I was kinda hoping for a no weld plan...is yers? Thanks for the reply
If I was to build another I would use Kevin's print/file its very clean well thought out design!

Thanks Busto. I was lucky to have a CAD guy who works for me, and is interested in knife making! Also, having a good friend with access to a water jet doesn't hurt.

Win...Win....right there...I was lucky to have a full machine shop at my disposal so Break time and Lunch was spent making chip dust.

I don't think you would be happy going from an Esteem to a NWG

Just start building an Esteem one piece at at time

Brett was a huge help but would get sick of my calls..."not THIS guy again!" As I said, least mechanically inclined and all...
