hey guys, here is my second knife, 9" OAL, ats34, will finish with black paper micarta handles and 1/4" s.s. pins, para cord lanyard, this knife is meant for me to take fishing. I cut the thumb rest waaaaay too deep. Let me know what you think. BTW sorry about poor pic quality. Also still has scale on it.

Nice grinds, especially considering it's your second knife. What's that small hole at near the plunge? I think as you design and use knives more you're going to find that with few exceptions all those finger grooves get in the way.

With some minor changes in the handle and reshaping that upper finger thingy, this will be a very nice design for you.

will
thanks for the input, i agree on the finger grooves, but since i will be using this one with wet hands i thought they may help, as for the small hole i have to admit, it was a for a pin stop for the.....dare I say it, hollow grinding jig and now im outed :)

The finger grooves aren't going to help as much as careful material selection and shape for the knife.

Fairly new to knife making as well, but old hand and dressing animals. Being able to use a few different grips comes in handy. I probably end up using an overhand grip about 20% of the time, so finger grooves for me would be a problem. Other than that I like it.
