Martin,

Not this time. I do not put any changes into finished knives.
It always ends in tears ;)

Next K390 hunters will be in two or three months.
Have 50 blanks to finish - Vanadis10 and M390 some with M2(HSS) steels.

Sorry for that but think you can understand my point.

J.

Yep that's not a problem. I have some extra carbon fiber left over. When you finish grinding one of the vanadis 10's (I prefer the Bowie style) would you consider selling it with no handles or sheath. I don't expect a deep discount but I enjoy handle work so I thought I would ask. Thanks.

Have one AgorBowie170 with Vanadis10 4,5 mm left in the workshop. For me it is fine - can make and send blade without scales.
Mail me I put you in the orders.

J.

Martin, I do not have the rockwell hardness tester in my workshop (still to expensive for me)
Just paying for testing to the company near my workshop - so not each one is tested.
I usually test 2 knives from one feed (max 6 knives; usually 4 at a time) --> if they are simillar I do not do another.
There are always measurement errors of course so it will be better to write "knife is 62-64 HRC"
This one Agor was measured it has a dot on the tang so I know it was measured ;)- it shows 62 HRC.

Yes I have paypal account.
Price: make an offer ;)

I am looking for that length and thickness of a vanadis 10 blade and I really like the design but I was wanting one that was closer to max hardness around 64-65 for the extra wear resistance. I am impressed with your knives and have been for over a year now but if I have to wait a little longer to get one at 64 hrc I can wait. My offer is $200 for the vanadis 10 @ 64 hrc in a 4,5 mm width 170 mm length with no handle or sheath. Does that sound fair to you?

Martin

Your offer is fair.

1. Can HT for max wear up to 64 HRC no problem have done it before -For 64 HRC have to austenitize from 1100 C for 30 min and temper at 525C for 120 min 3 times. Usually 1080 C and 540C tempering it gives 62-64 HRC.
2. My blanks are cut so they are prepared to be used with M5 screws - no problem can give you torx screws.
3. Use the knife as knife not axe. It will work perfectly but hardening to that point can cause damages when using as window opener or nails cutter or tough batoning.
Vanadis10 is quite tough steel but not made for that purposes. I always make knives as they are so steel before sharpening has 0.3 - 0,4 mm to cut as hell.
4. Will HT for you and will make movie during testing the knife on rockwell tester to proove hardness

Is that OK with you from 1 to 4 ;)

Yes. But the video is not necessary. I can have it tested at work but I'm not worried about it. As far as I have seen all the knife makers on here stake their word on their work so I believe you will do as you say. I followed you for over a year and not heard or seen a major complaint. As for chopping or prying with it I do not abuse knives. I have a Crucible 10v knife that is 1,65 mm thick (.065 inches) @ 64.5 Hrc tested. It's is a real slicer made by Big Chris. It was what I wanted and I really like it but now I want one that can handle heavier use but not chopping. I've ordered a cpm 4v with a 7" blade for that. But yes I agree to 1-4. Thank you
