2x72 grizzly stopped working

Dummy me - at least learn to read subject of a post!

as mentioned if the capacitor is bad the motor will hum - you can give it a spin by hand and motor will normally start then. I've had 1 ph capacitor start motors that won't start, give them a spin and start right up. Dad had a drill press he never fooled with changing capacitor on, just gave it a spin for years.
Theres no humming. Just complete silence as if I didnt turn it on and the spin trick didnt work sadly

Before we get too far along here, have you tried contacting grizzly customer service? I would send that pic and see what they say.

If something burnt, then running it anymore, by bypassing switch or not, is probably going to make things worse.

Ok so I opened the on/off button and found a broken piece. I got my uncle to come over and help me with bypassing the switch and it did run!!!!! So im assuming the grinder is fine and its just this little piece that snapped in half thats causing the problem. Now I don't know why this piece broke and sadly grizzly is closed on weekends so they werent answering theyre phone.

all 4 wires are connected to each side making contact with these little metal pieces and something caused one side to break which means 2 wires arent making contact.
My uncle bypassed the switch by cutting one end of a extension cord and connecting the wires and it started running.
Is it safe to work on it like that or should I wait until I can order a new part.

And THANKSSS so much everyone who commented and reached out trying to help. You guys are the best.

Normally I'd say you will be just fine running with wires bypassed till you can get a new switch. However in this day and age I've got to go on record saying I don't recommend it. LOL Although if you came to my shop you would see a device or two running like that every once in awhile. It appears to be a DOUBLE POLE/ SINGLE THROW switch which if you don't mind not having OEM part you could go to hardware store buy a handi box to mount over top of existing cut out and install a DP/ST switch that would look just like the switches you have in your house. Just be sure to buy a switch rated at 20amps. Probably $10 fix.

Haha I'm actually afraid to use it like it is now. I just can't help but feeling like I'm gonna Make it worse somehow and with my first knife show coming up at blade I don't want to make any more mistakes that'll prevent me from bringing knives.
I went on grizzlys website and the on/off switches were only 2.75$ so I bought two of them.
