Yo, guys.
I can't afford a kmg or a rotary platen right now so I was thinking I could make a poor man's version.
I'm looking for a 2x72 or smaller rubber belt for my grinder. I know it won't be comparable to the rotary platen but I'm thinking if I can find something stiff enough it may help a lot and be better than the set up I have now.
Any ideas on where I can get a belt like that?
Thanks in advance,
Iz

i'm wondering what the rubber belt will allow you to do. maybe there is a better idea other than the rubber belt, a kmg or rotary platen.

Iz. You are a convex grinder. Do what you have to to get a KMG and rotary platen.

But. If you're looking for anything hard to find start at McMaster-Carr.

I'd think a leather belt would do better.

Cool, guys. I appreciate the input.
Andy,
I'm thinking about pulling out the stops and going for the kmg. Expensive as it is I think production would increase because of it.
Yes? No? What'cha think?

As to the leather, I was thinking about that but I was reading that low speeds are suggested so the leather will hold together. I don't have a low speed option.:( I've got a grizzly that is wide open or off.
I might try it though and see.

Thanks guys for your input. It's greatly appreciated.

Since leather might be out because of the speed, I'd just forget the idea and take Andy's advice. Keep spending the pennies until you can buy a KMG or build a NWG.

Excellent suggestions, guys. I appreciate it. I'm gonna give some of these ideas a try and see what happens.
Thanks again for all your input.
