So after a bunch of months trying out different sizes, I've landed on 3 ¼" closed length as the perfect sized slipjoint for my hand. I currently own a Northwoods Norfolk Whittler. It's the only one I have at 3 ¼". It's still small enough to fit in my watch pocket yet larger then some of the smaller guys! I did a search and couldn't find a thread, so I'm coming to you all for help! Help me come up with a list of Brand/pattern for the 3 ¼" knives out there. And of course, pictures please!

The Case Sway Back Jack and Sway Back Gent are around 3 1/4" closed, or maybe just a tad under.

I'm quite fond of the old USA-made Schrade 34OT Old Timers. They are still readily available on the big auction site.

This is the one I carry nearly every day:

I've modified the spey into a pen blade and given a bit of a Wharncliffe touch to the sheepsfoot blade to ease the profile when closed, but it's a fine knife out of the box.

My favorite size!

Case Medium Jack
Canal Street Cutlery Boy's Knife
GEC French Kate
GEC #33 Conductor/Whittle

All I can think of at the moment.

3 1/4" Stockman
Buck 303
Case 6344
Schrade - 34OT, 834UH

Multi Tool
Victorinox - Cadet, Small Tinker, Sportsman... several other 84mm

Sorry no pics at this time.

Case 6344 Medium Stockman as already mentioned.

Red CV:

Buck 303 Cadet, pictured here next to its bigger sibling, the 301:

Those are the only ones I have that are exactly 3 1/4".

It is listed as 3 3/8", but my Case pen knife looks to me to be the same size as my Norfolk Whittler:

The Queen #2 jack is right at 3¼" and has their great D2 steel.

The Queen #26 is basically the same frame in a stockman pattern.

(U.S.-made) Schrade 33OT two-blade Middleman jack is a great 3.25" knife.

I've been enjoying this size lately myself.

The Buck 703 is the same closed length as the 303 mentioned a couple times above. These were discontinued in 2001 but they are still pretty easy to find in like new or mint condition.

Also mentioned above is the Case Medium Stockman which comes in a variety of patterns. Here's a couple examples of the 63090 pattern.

Case mini Copperhead, Case Half Whittler,Boker small Half congress, SAK Pocket Pal,Queen #3 Pen. All are right in the 3 1/8- 31/4 ballpark and are all single spring so
besides being small in length are also thin & light.

Schatt & Morgan Keystone from 2014. Mini-Muskrat, single-spring.

An interesting one from RR: double lockback in Armour Hide Bone, single-spring and quite broad handles

Queen Cutlery No.3 Sleeveboard and Tidioute Conductor in faux Tortoise.

The Sleeveboard has a very small Clip blade but good bolster size, whereas the GEC boasts a superb blade:handle ratio but has rather oversized bolsters for such a small frame. Both single-spring, both have impressive snap and no blade-rub.

Another single-spring: Böker Germany Penknife in bone. Curiously, this has stainless blades but a carbon backspring, odd!

Thank you for your contributions! Sorry for not checking back in sooner. I was busy being at the hospital with my wife who was delivering our fourth daughter!!!

I can't wait to start checking out some of these knives.

I've been looking for one of these in CV! No luck yet in that search.

The Case Sway Back Jack and Sway Back Gent are around 3 1/4" closed, or maybe just a tad under.

This one is HUGE on my radar!

Keep an eye out for the upcoming GEC #14 pattern.

Are these Carbon or SS?

I'd like to find one of the CS Boy's knife with the stag. I got one of the forum knives that year, but I really like Eric's Jack even better.

My favorite size!

I'm going to check this one out. The covers remind me of my very first knife, a Buck Duke.

These interest me a lot! I really like single spring knives!

Congratulations! I'm surprised you have any free time.
