3.0" Folders.

spyderco uk penknife in orange.
The boss can't really have a problem with it as its a slippy.

Three Spydercos that fit your needs are among my favorite folders:

1. Calypso, Jr. in VG-10 or ZDP-189 if you can find one (discontinued).

2. UKPK

3. Calypso III available with G-10 and S30V or carbon fiber abnd ZDP-189

I've also been very happy with my combo blade Leek.

Take a look at some of these....

UKPK. Orange, very non-knife people friendly. 3" blade, no lock, but fairly secure, great blade, great steel, great grip, wire clip, tip up carry

I love these knives.

Another vote for the Kopa. Very sheeple friendly and the fit and finish is outstanding.

Just gave my brother the blue bone Kopa for a bithday present, it's an absolutely gorgeous knife.

I highly recommend staying away from benchmade if you want a sheeple friendly knife. I have benchmades coming out of my ears and really they all look like purpose built tactical knives (because really, they are). Except MAYBE the 70X lines (probably the only one you will be able to find and afford is the 707 sequel, its like 90 bucks). There is just something in their blood that makes all their knives look scary as hell, which is great if you are trying to convince someone that fighting you isnt worth it.

love my 1660 leek, wear a suit everyday, works fine with a gentleman. Also use a benchmade shoki as well.

But do you own any pink ones?:D

I guess, but that blaze orange spyderco up above seems to have everyone convinced it's okay. I was thinking a nice girly color would camouflage the fact that it's a very capable cutting machine.

Benchmade Ritter Mini Grip from aeromedix. s30v blade and axis lock heck yes. You can get the small one in yellow too for a more friendly look. Got one today can't wait for it. I love the mini grip's handle, it is very comfortable.

From your requirements, and short list...

1. Leek
2. Leek
3. Leek

Pick one of the many varieties available, live long, and prosper.

Try a Buck 112 with mabe a drop point blade...There are a lot of limted editions that are really nice! My fav is the 2007 BCCI fund raiser...Front bolster NS no rear, black bufflo horn, red paper trim, chip flint blade, 150 made with a matching 110 availble [175]. I also like the 422...

As you can tell by now, there are a multitude of knives that might work within those criteria (this is a good thing!). The Leek is certainly a front runner, but you might consider whether the assisted opening feature could freak some folks out; mine has upon occasion.

Another one that might fit the bill is a Kershaw Sapphire. It's a bit of a "sleeper" on BF discussions, but I love mine and consider it a very good value. Here's a picture.

Good luck with whatever you choose. All the ones mentioned are great knives and you'll get a lot of good use from whatever you choose.
