3/16 fusion Steel Heart ????

the other day as i was making a few pics of my new Fusion Steel heart and my SHSH,,I had noticed that it was 3/16 thick,, I thought that these were only going to be avalible in 1/4 and 5/16,,, :confused: did i miss something or was the standard models in 3/16,, :confused: :confused:
 
Huh? Are you sure that the SHSH isn't more than a quarter inch thick?

I'm sure that the FSH is supposed to be a quarter inch thick.
 
How did you arrive at that measurement? Side by side comparison with your SHSH? You might just have a 5/16 SHSH, as I doubt that you got a 3/16 FSH. Better mic it to be sure.
 
at first site noticed that it looked thinner that 1/4 ,,i compared it side by side with my SHSH,SHBM,EU-17,FNO,AS,,,all of them 1/4 ,,and i measured the thickness,,,and sure enough,,,it was 3/16. i looked at Shanewomers in his post and his looks to be 3/16 compared to the other steel heart in the pic with his, :confused:
 
Alright, get a tape measure with 16ths on it and grab your camera, I have got to see this!
 
here is a pic,,,where the tape is,,is about 2 inches from the handle. :eek:

the at the agle the i shot it,,it look a tad over 3/16, but here with the tape and knife in hand,,,it is dead on 3/16.

but im not whinning or anything,,,i still love the blade,,was just wandering if these standard blades were all like this?

I bet if you clamped that in a micrometer it would read more like.219" rather than .19" By my eye, it looks more like 7/32" rather than 3/16". Looks like just a hair over 3/16. Nice no matter how thick it is. :D:D:D
 
The ones I got mic'd in the mid 0.24x's. (black/green/tan finishes), except one at 0.254 and one 0.237.
 
Boy, I hope my HOFSH isn't short on thickness!

but the thickness in between the scales on mine are 1/4 ,,,but from the end of the scales out are at 3/16 :confused: :confused:

I guess that means that the stock was at least one quarter, and then they made a knife out of it.

I still don't understand the obsession with fat blades: the better the steel and tempering process, the less steel you need to do the same job well.

It has nothing to do with the performance of a blade...
