3/16" or 5/32" diameter ceramic rods?

I've been having pretty good success with my DMT Aligner kit, but I'm just not satisfied with finishing with a 9 micron extra fine diamond stone. I would like to go finer, but I am trying to forgoe stropping as I'm seeking the straightest edge I can possible attain. I have a couple of options to explore, the simplest of which would be a ten or twelve inch ceramic rod.

To work properly in my Aligner, it needs to be no larger than 3/16", and really needs to be slightly smaller to allow the rod to slide in the hole at an angle. I'm inclined to think that rods this small in diameter are not available as general sharpening supplies, but rather as special use industrial products. I can do an extensive search for some, but I don't think I will have very much luck attaining the exact specifications on micron size. So I am wondering if anyone has already discovered a ceramic product in this diameter that is ten to twelve inches long, and suitably low in micron size.

I'm aware that serration sharpeners may work, however I haven't really looked to hard at these.

Dang, I didn't see that. I geuss I was so focused on getting a rod that I zoned out the stone.

The ceramic/fine (green/white) hone lacks the steel backing necessary to maintain the magnetic attachment that you have on the red/blue hone while using the aligner. I have both sets and the aligner and have tried it many times in a variety of ways and couldn't get it to stay attached.

I didn't even know that there was a magnet. I have a loose fit so I fold a
1/2" strip of paper once over to a 1/8" width and place it on the top edge of my stone holder. with this "shim" I have to push my stones into place and they stay snug. I have to admit though that even loose without the shim, they haven't fallen out. I wonder if this shim would hold the ceramic stone in place.

Well, I'll probably search for the DMT ceramic on the internet tonight, but I found a smooth 3/16" stainless steel rod today and I'm going to experiment with some ultrafine sandpaper glued or taped to it. I just need some suggestions on what progression of grit to go with. I'll probably get three sections out of the rod, and I'm thinking something like 2000, 4000, and then 8000, but I wouldn't know for sure if this would work effectively.
