Yea, a 3,5" 154CM Titanium handled versoin would be great! I would buy it for $ 250!!!!!!!!!

Lets see if we can convince Camillus to make one! Anybody wants one too?

Talonite, Titanium and frame lock ... perfect together. (a NJ insiders joke) but what a combination in a a knife!

Now I find this really interesting. Camillus produced the EDC as a competitor for CRKT & some of the lower end Spydies. It serves that purpose quite well. Now the knife knuts are demanding much better materials (Ti, Talonite, BG42) which would make the EDC a competitor for the Sebenza. I don't think I've ever seen a single model (in different materials) compete simultaneously for the lowest and highest end of the production spectrum. I'd like to see how it does. It seems that everyone agrees that Camillus makes quality knives, but I, in my limited experience, have never heard anyone say that they would take a Camillus folder over a CRK Sebenza. If the EDC is produced, 3.5", Ti, BG42 or Talonite, you just might hear people say just that. Very interesting indeed. But would a Camillus EDC in such upgraded materials be too much competition for DDR himself?

That's a good question. I kind of just assumed that Darrel would be getting a cut of what Camillus makes on a bigger EDC, so he'd make out fine. Isn't that what collaberations are all about? Also, I always thought of customs as being all about options. While a large Talonite Camillus EDC would please many people, the lack of options on handle material, blade material, blade style, file work, and overall attention to quality ought to make the demand for custom EDCs at least manageable for Darrel.

Than again, I could be totally wrong. I'm just the slob who drewels over all this stuff.

Ok gang,
We REALLY appreciate the interest, and believe me, we pay attention to these posts, but........

Lets not get carried away

We just started shipping the regular EDC's, and a few 154cm EDC. That will have to be it for awhile. New handle sizes means major tooling commitments...that takes time and $$$$$. While we are looking at a few blade options, I would not hold my breath for a different size, and certainly not for a Ti frame. We are very pleased with the steel frame lock principle for a production knife.

I really like the idea of the TALONITE blade, and have been looking at that quite awhile, but there are some real problems with that in production. Talonite is only availble in a few stock size's, and production surface grinding that stuff is not easy. Its non magnetic, so a magnetic 'chuck' will not hold it. We are working on it though.....

Anyway, thanks for the interest guys. In the meantime, DDR will make you all the Ti framed, 3.567", Jelly-Roll Damascus bladed EDC's you want. Just call him for delivery time and price

I just got my Camillus EDC in talonite yesterday at a gun & knife show here in Reno, and like it real well. Nice size, and even don't mind the steel(420HC I think?), and would love to see one with titanium scales, but with the increase in price of material, milling of titanium,etc. would probably almost put it in the price range of my Sebenza. Although I am not saying bad, but would not be sure I would be willing to spend the extra or not. Course being in talonite blade still would be reasonable!!! Oh heck Yes I would!!! Go good with my Tom Mayo TNT even though it has slots instead of holes!!!

Will;
There is a solution to surface grinding non-magnetic materials. Its called a vaccuum table. I have used them when grinding graphite on a surface grinder (messy as hell!). I suppose that now you are holding the material with magnetic end pieces to hold the material onto the table.
That TALONITE sure is tough on cutting tools and grinding wheels and for the time being I will be satisfied with my 2 TALONITE EDC's that will arrive sometime this week. I really LOVE my Talon and Mini-Talon. They are my current EDC's.
:cool: :rolleyes:

I like the EDC as it is. Either the 420HC or the 154Cm or Talonite is fine for everyday use. I happen to own the 154CM version and I think it's great. Would I like to see a 3.5 inch version? Sure, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with the current production models.
