I've been looking for a nice fixed blade, with a 3.5 inch blade give or take. I was almost ready to order a Bark River Necker 2 in cpm3v but I'd really like to stay with a stainless. We get some really humid weather around her in the summer and I don't want to have to worry about rust.

So basically I want the toughest stainless steel i can get (feel free to give recommendations) in a 3-3.75 blade. Don't want the weight to be much over 5oz, and i would really prefer it didn't say made in china. I didn't really want to spend over $200, if I have to spend more to get quality I will but I thought that should buy a nice knife.

Cheap- Cold Steel pendelton hunter lite $15
Not made any more but some still around..Mini North Star ..got one last week and love it! The newer version is North Star EDC but it's not Stainless.

The mini..

You could have a nice custom made for that I would imagine. Also take a look at Entrek knives, they are 440C stainless which is super stain resistant.

Cant go wrong with a well coated 1095 High Carbon Alloy like a ESEE-3/4, TOPS Lite Trekker(among others) or Ontario RAT-3/4, There is great and reliable stainless known as 154CM. Are you looking for a certain type of knife like for outdoors use? also Wood, G-10, rubber, Micarta or other type of handle?

I agree with the coated 1095 I have zero rust issues with my ESEE 3 mil and it is my main outdoors knife.

A bit shorter than 3.5", but the Kershaw Fixed Skyline is pretty good. Goes for $30 on BladeHQ and the neck sheath goes for $26.

If your gonna go the way of the Nim Cub get a Gerber Yari II on clearance at most places, wildbillwholesale has it priced at $62.49 and its a USA made Gerber full tang in premium S30V at 4 1/2in however and stuck with a tanto tip but a great knife for the price check out the reviews.

Guess I should have mentioned I do want a kydex sheath, leather and rain don't go real well together. Now that I see you can get one for the kershaw skyline that's an option, wish it was made with a little better steal but not bad for the money. I actually have a benchmade, nice knife but I hate the sheath that came with it. Keep the ideas coming, thanks everyone!

Look under the maker section of the forum here, you can get a great custom for under $200! For steels, I would personally recommend ats34, which is not too expensive but performs very well and sharpens easily.

+1 Fallkniven F1, also look at benchmades new bushcrafter in S30V, a Mora or two, gunny in S35VN, ESEE is going to be coming out with their ESEE 4 in 440C soon

after doing some reading it doesn't sound like sandvik 14c28n is to bad. I figured for a usa made knife to sell for $30 it had to be junk, but maybe not.
