3.5" or less "hard use" folder?

Mini-commander is V-grind.

I really dislike Sebenza's.

I had a blue BM940. Liked it, except it had dual thumbstuds, and I couldn't bring myself to grind them off. Traded it away instead.

Perhaps a small ax will do. Only kidding. ;)

The REKAT Savant is much lighter overall and has a textured G10 handle that is a huge improvement over the Pioneer series. The shape of the handles provides for an integral guard (picture the Spyderco Goddard LWs FRN handles). It fills your blade length requirement. I' m not so sure if you will find it for below $100 at present since they have not made it to all dealers yet. And I do not recall if it has a dual thumbstud. The Pioneer I and II series have a single reversible thumbstud.

Mike,
What about CRKT new M18-02? I have specially measured the blade length of mine, it is 81 mm long, in American units this gives 3,19"
Strong and stiff aluminum handle with color G-10 inlay. Flipper makes opening more than easy. Liner lock with additional LAWKS safety device. AUS-8 blade is very decent performer - holds the edge reasonably well and is also reasonably easy to sharpen.

In my humble opinion it's pretty handy and versatile tool.

BTW, all Emeron knives I have dealt with were sharpened from left side only through had blades ground on both sides. For right handed user it is pretty questionable to do something useful with such blade (wood whittling for ex.), they cause association rather with destroying applications...

Two that are about the size that you are looking at that I would say are built pretty tuff are:
The mini Buck Strider (go for BG42 if u can)
The TOPS Thunderhawk folder

Hey Mike ! Just get a SOG paratool or something similar AND a CRKT Mirage. If you're dirt-biking you probably need more tools than just a knife. Interesting thread... let us know what you decide...

Knives are cool, but airguns are much more fun ! :D

Ain't seen you around the airgun scene lately !

It's actually a dual-sport -- DR-Z400S. I've been putting together a pretty good tool-kit and even an emergency "spend-the-night-in-the-woods" kit.

I guess I just got it in my head that I _need_ a Mini-Commander. Might swing into one of the local B&M stores and see if I can play with one. Might not even like it!
