3/8"+ Thick Knives

I made this thread because i love thick blades. Here's my only knife above 1/4 inch, coming in at staggering .467, i custom ordered it from Khukuri House. They do excelent work for the price.

3/8" is 9.5 mm, so this one is just a smidgen shy of that at 9.0 mm even (0.354"): Still worthy of inclusion... Jean Tanazaq Rambo 21, 40-50 made, 35.2 ounces with sheath:

Gravelle, a maker that post here on fb in the exchange for custom knife makers makes some super thick stuff

If you want 3/8 or thicker, Himalayan Imports Khukuris is the way to go. No one does knives thicker. The 15 Ang Khola is almost over 3/8" thick. The 18 inch Ang Khola is about 1/2 inch thick and the 22 inch Ang Khola is about 5/8" thick.

I alredy posted in over build knives ,.375 thick A2 tool steel , I also made knives in .25.
if you do deep hollow grind you actually can make them sharp.

Is that full tang? Custom ordered?

The question is why do you want 3/8"? I think it turns a normal knife into a wedge, chisel or prybar or something like that. If you need the extra weight or strength then that is OK. For cutting it will get in the way but if you are striking with the tool then that is OK.

I've seen a few competition chopping blades and I think they were perhaps this thick at the spine but the blades are tall enough that the bevel angles are not too steep. In that situation I think they used the thickness to gain mass for chopping.

For fun mainly.

Thanks. I have several in the 0.28" - 0.32" range but not many with spine pics. Search the Joe Parane/Nick Wheeler knives one of those (the bigger bowie) ended up in that range.

I just went through all 60 pages of SharpByCoop's thread in the custom and handmade knife section of high end art knives. And out every folding knife i've ever seen that beast is in my top 5 favorites. Just amazing, i'd ask you if you sell them but i know i couldn't afford it anyways haha.
