Two of my favorites GT, I keep a minichamp on my motorcycle keys and the Alox classic on the truck keys. They fit an awful lot of tools into such a small frame on the minichamp it's amazin'

This little one is my first knife I remember I was given. In the shape of a wine bottle, some poor stainless, cork opener and dull blade. Lenght, well, from the bottom bolster of a peanut till the top of a peanut's shield (talking Case), so less than 2 inches. Unmarked, no idea aout its age, but it's not worth anything to anyone except for me anyway.

I love them little figurals, the little wine bottle is cool lookin' and even though the steel may be of questionable quality and F&F might be shoddy they still fill a spot in my collection as cute/unusual miniature knives and in that category I can forgive a lot within reason as long as I didn't put a lot out for it. I love them Imperial Trick/Magic knives, I used to have about a dozen different ones, mostly advertisers but I only kept an all SS one with no advertising on it and gave away all the rest. Funny thing was they were pretty good knives, took a razor's edge very easily just required frequent touch ups if you used it a lot for work. Considerin' how cheap they were, most were premiums given away to customers but even if you had to buy 'em you never spent more than a few $ for one and they'd last forever if it was just a light daily user.

I was gonna ask the same thing, with Rough Riders makin' a decent knife overseas I was hopin' it would only be a matter of time before Taylor took advantage of Schrade's brand and did it some justice and honor the name deserves. :)

Thanks. I keep it as it is a memmory of my childhood. It's tiny and pretty useless, but with the working imagination of a child it quickly turned to a cavalry sabre for charges against the enemy, or a mighty knight's sword. :D I looked up the knives you mentioned and they look very sympathetic. It's the simple things that are sometimes the best.

Yeah, they're really nice for their size. I was surprised how much I use the scissors once I started carrying a Classic or Minichamp all the time.

Personally, I like Rough Riders and Colts better than the Taylor-Schrade Old Timers; RR and Colt seem to be higher quality and a little lower in cost. On the other hand, the Taylor Imperials (like those canoes I posted above) are also better than the Chinese Old Timers, in my opinion. The Taylor Imperials are not as nice as RR and Colt (e.g., most of the Imperials have synthetic, rather than bone, covers), but the ones I've picked up were under $7 each.

You can get the opinions of others if you search for threads containing "Taylor Schrade". For example, http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1344265-Taylor-Schrade-Traditionals-Your-Opinions-Reviews-and-Overviews?highlight=taylor+schrade is pretty interesting. The first page of that thread contains some interesting posts by Frank (knarfeng), who I think seems quite objective and scientific, and he concludes that a Chinese Uncle Henry stockman compares very favorably with a Schrade USA Uncle Henry. I suppose one thing to keep in mind is that many folks think highly of the carbon steel Schrade USA Old Timers, but the Taylor Schrade Old Timers are available only in stainless (as far as I know).

Very interesting knife SP. Are the handles horn? Looks really attractive.

Thanks, Will

Thanks. I'm quite taken with it. The fascination of miniaturization and a nice strong build.
I think the handles are horn. The other side is much darker for some reason, whether by design or from sun-bleaching of the blonde side. Those are my only theories.
