3 Day Backcountry Winter Camping with Rick Marchand

Ken,
Since you were behind the camera ,and we couldn't see what clothing where you using different from the others?

Rick would you change the type of boots you used? If so what type , Something without a liner ect?? (Micky Mouse/bunny boots)

Thanks

If I had known the rain was coming, I would have worn my Sorel Intrepid Explorer boots. ALWAYS WITH A LINER. Ever try to dry out a one piece boot in the field? I wanted to test out some new gear that weekend and regreted a few items.

Only have expeience with drying Bunny boots in the field . (Winter) No liner rubber/woolfelt-air/rubber
Was not sure of the white boots you were rocking! (liner or not)
Thanks

Nice vid guys and it was helpful to see the gear selection. Warmed my soul to see a bush chicken poking around the trees. You all have stones for sleeping in -18, hats off to you.

My Pack

Ohh - that Medium ALICE is bringing back some nightmares! My back and hips are all crying out against this sadistic, torturous monster!!! I vaguely recall 16-mile ruck marches/races, sweltering heat and skin rubbed raw....

On a lighter note, i sure like your axe!

What a great time you guys enjoyed - never mind the less-than-dry conditions. It's the company that determines the pleasure of an outing - and what company you all had!

With the added weight of the "Wussy Sack" sleep system the ALICE was a pain!

Here is a pack I just rigged up to replace the ALICE on Winter treks...

That's a *really* nice looking frame Rick -looks to be huge improvement over the ALICE frame. Spendy?

Of particular interest is the place on the frame where the hip pad rests - it looks like it encircles the Illac crest instead of 'resting'/pushing against the user's lower back/sacrum (the specific reason why the ALICE pack-frame induces pressure points/hot-spots - FAIL).
