Here is the Spyderco DICE..very nice and easily in your price. Can go a bit larger and get the Spyderco Domino flipper. I have owned both models; they are both excellent.

I have not handled the 566 yet, but i know the 801 is a little bulky for what I am looking for. (heavy)

Well the 566 is only a 1/2 oz lighter than the 801 but not as bulky in dimension. Do you care if it's assisted or not?

Ahh...another good question. Non assited for me please! you can modify the 566 correct?

Unfortunately there's a real gap in the ~3" flipper market. The Spyderco Dice is all that really comes to mind, though it's a bit bulky for its blade length. It seems like manufacturers are getting the hint though, with ZT's new offerings (available "mid year"), and the Lionsteel TRE (available April/May). David of Reate has said they have a 3" knife in the works too, but no date yet. It's a shame. I love my Spyderco Southard and my 801 but they're just a bit too big for me to edc.
