Hello,

I'm feeling like I need a change. I'm looking for a folder that has a blade 3 inches in length or less. Preferably not made in PRC.

Parameters:
-Blade length: 3 inch max
-Blade style: Preferably Drop Point or Spear or maybe I try something new.
-Purpose: edc.
-Price: Something I won't regret losing because I left it on a counter top at work for 15 mins and it "grew legs".

I kinda feel like carrying my Buck Vantage again. The steel seems kinda chippy I'm not sure that I trust it... Any recommendation would be highly appreciated.

vantage uses 420hc, it should not be chippy at all
if you had the vantage pro in s30v, then maybe, yes, but still should be good

anyway, if you really want a low price (to meet requirement of not worrying if it goes missing)... the $20 kabar dozier is best

upgrade it to the d2 version for just under $40

My favorite d’un 3” is the CEK small Inkosi but you may regret to loose it due to the price ;)

The para 3 is a nice option, I really like the s45vn and Maxamet versions

Not sub3 but carries very well: the BL bugout. If the 3.1” blade is not a legal issue, it is really worth considering

If the automatics are not an issue, the protech SBR or Runt-5 are both very good

The WE Banter is made in China but it is a very good sub-3” EDC knife. It is one of the few Chinese made knife in my collection and is one of my favorite sub 3” blade

The McNees PM Mac2 is expensive but it is also excellent
In slipjoint the lionsteel bestman Roundhead is my pick

Kabar Dozier was what first came into my mind. AUS-8 steel, ~$25, and made in Taiwan. Probably the best value for your money in a modern pocket knife (ie: not Opinel or the like) not made in China. Spend a bit more and you can get D2 instead.

There are lots of nice knives that fit the bill. I have quite a few myself in both locking and slip joint form that I'd recommend. But honestly, the one I grab most often is my $15 Opinel #7. It's a great slicer, very light, and I use it with complete abandon because and it's easily replaceable.
