3 Foot Blade El-Lobo from CS?

I went to Cold Steel's website to look at the 1999 products. I was reading the description of the El Lobo (not yet the little details box that all the knives featured in their site have) and it said the following:

"A smaller version of our El Hombre, with a 3' blade."

Of course the little details box had it correctly with 3 inches instead of 3 feet, but I couldn't help but to start thinking about how neat a 3' bladed folding knife would be. Maybe Cold Steel should start producing really really big folding knives...

Does anyone out there have a really big folder that locks? Can the blade length beat 3 feet?

A folding sword was made a few years ago by some company in China. It was the quality you could expect from China at that time. I would venture to guess the market would be so limited that only Jim March would buy one

One o' these days I'm going to take an Ontario Black Wind Katana and rig it as a folder, using 1/4" aluminum bar stock slabs as grip halves. The lock would have to grab the blade at a point 3 - 4" *behind* the pivot, which means even when closed there'd be a 3 - 4" "stub" of blade material sticking forward.

But who cares? Set it up with a stiff enough pivot that they can't label it a "gravity knife" and you've got the ULTIMATE in "freak out the DA" piece. If I actually build it, the ONLY name that makes sense is "California Screamin'".
