3 knives, no markings.

Most here probably started with something that caught their eye that did not cost too much. I did. After awhile you get a sharper eye and your idea of what costs too much changes! If you like that style the are good companies that make it, costing not so mush to thousands. There are folks here of bladeforums that really know these knifes and can answer questions about them. Search the forum and google lagouile take a look at the French, city name Thiers, made ones, some are really nice. On my some day list. Even if those are too spendy you will learn things like traditionally there are pins in the shape of a cross -:-- on the handle and why a bee. Then when you run across the next one you will have an idea if it's a find or not. Enjoy the hobby.

If they are made in Pakistan fro the cheap stuff, but manage some light EDC stuff you're fine. I've had dozens of Pakistan blades over the years and never had much luck, but I did end up with a $1 project knife Bullet brand Texas Jack. It will take a nice edge and holds it for longer than any other Pakistan blade I've owned, still not great, but much better than I expected. I assume the fact they put a name on it means they were at least willing to claim the product which says... Something... ? I just got it to practice modding traditionals so it's a single blade now and it does get used sometimes around the house. Your blades look nice so hopefully they can manage a day's carry. Let us know how they hold up!

They definitely have the Pakistani vibe to them. I have a few Pakistani damascus/pattern welded knives, and while they're pretty crude and not mind-blowingly great by any stretch, they are reasonably functional for cutting stuff. They are very soft, so require frequent sharpening and tend to be a little finicky to get sharp due to the burr not wanting to break off. With a bit of patience, though, it can be done. Most of the Pakistani blades actually are genuine pattern welded metal, it's just that nobody knows exactly what metals are used. The ones I have are magnetic, so there's at least something iron-based in there, but that's about all I can tell you. :D As to the etching question, as one guy on the previous page said, even real damascus knives are etched to bring out the contrast between the different steels, but then there's also fake etching of homogenous steel to give it a damascus-like appearance. The ones in your pics don't look like fake cosmetic etching. Carry 'em and use 'em and see how it goes (assuming the locks feel secure on the folders).

I don't see any reason not to carry them if you like them. While they do appear at first glance to be inexpensive imports, that doesn't mean they'll explode if you open a letter or cut the tape on a package. Put and keep a good edge on them and they should be fine for light edc use. If your edc will be used for heavier tasks, you may want to look into a sturdier knife for that, but for the basic, light tasks that are the bulk of most people's knife use, nearly any knife will work. Carry what appeals to you and works for what you need. Having a knife that YOU like in your pocket or on your belt is the best part of the hobby for many of us.

Also, in your internet research about Damascus blades, and basically any other knife related info, your first stop should probably be the blade forums search bar.
Started going through Damascus threads on here. WOW! Talk about some beautiful knives! And I had no clue what-so-ever the things they can do with the patterns on the blades. May have just found my collection niche.

This forum is magic. Basically last week you show up with flea market cheapo copies, and now you are on the verge of giving money to Chad Nichols :)

There's lots of makers on BF doing incredible stuff for sure. You can find just about any kind of knife on here and if you can't, you can likely find someone to make it for you.

Welcome to the most expensive site on the internet...:D
