Good Day,

I am wondering if anyone has a line on a source for 3 mil think 'Contractor Grade' Garbage Sacks?

And if not, I had a brainstorm, that sheeting, like what is used to curtain off work sites and such, may be just as good, if not better, since you should be able to get larger dimensions, which would give you more freedom to make the size and shape of sheet you wanted. And add ducktape and you have a bag or sack.

I've purchased from http://www.spectrumtrashbags.com/products.html before with good success.

I used their orange 33 gallon 2 mil bags to make survival kits for my Cub Scout den, and I used their red 44 gallon 2 mil bags to make survival kits for myself and my wife (adult-sized). My only complaint is that the red is dark. I think the blue might have been a better choice.

Unfortuntately the only 3 mil bag is the 60 gallon one, in black only.

The wife brought home a bunch of 4 mil. 55gal. drum liners from work that her boss had picked up at a commercial janitorial supply company near by. Not as large as the contractor bags, but I havn't had any problems using them.

Sheepdog beat me to it--my Lowe's has them, just thought about buying them the other day.

I'd bet McMaster-Carr has them, too. They carry lots of plastic bags in up to 6 or 8 mil. Granted, not garbage bags but they do have them ;)

I have picked up a couple boxes of the 3 mil contractor bags from wallmart over the years. Lately though, I have only found the 2.2mil thick bags there.

I converted to Tyvek a few years back. Thinner lighter and more durable.

Target carries 3 mil clear plastic 10x20 (or 10x25, can't remember) sheets. Saw them today.

Great responses folks... Thank you.

Skammer- Does Tyvek have the same vapor barrier and insulative qualities?

Yes it is much like the plastic except most find it is better for ground cloths etc. Most people use the house wrap from builders supply unless they can talk some job site out of some. Washing it a couple of times in the washing machine will soften it up and make it more useable.
