All khukuris come with scabbard (not shown) of good quality and also HI lifetime guarantee. Handles are all black horn.

top -- 17 inch WWII model with Chainpuri style cho. Blade thickness 3/8 inch. Width 1 7/8. Weight 1lb 7 oz. Blade straight, very good finish, and my file says it is close to "ideal" hardness. Excellent overall rating. Marked by KGR (who else?) SN 31
Price $125

center -- I found another Giant BAS. Length 16 inches. Blade thickness 7/16 inch. Width 2 + inches. Weight 1lb 11 oz! Blade quality same as above with scrollwork and brass inlay. Downside: Scabbard is a tight fit (Reno 10% humidity) and a few visible grind marks (minor) on blade in area of HI marking. Marked KGR. SN 30. An Uncle Bill "best buy."
Price $95

bottom -- 15 1/2 inch Ang Khola. Blade thickness 7/16 inch. Width 2 + inches. Weight: 1lb 8 oz. Blade shows VERY minor rust spots. On back of blade a very small fold line which automatically puts this very good AK into the blem category. Otherwise excellent quality. Excellent quality karda 6.5 inches. Marked by KGR. SN 68. Another Uncle Bill "best buy."
Price $100.

Everybody knows the procedure, I think. Those interested call or email me direct. Comments always welcome and much appreciated.

All gone.

Shop 1 is continuing to make the scrolled 2 piece buttcap -- so, ghost, if my Gurkha brother recovers from his kidney surgery okay we are still viable.

Shop 2 will make the flat plate buttcap. I am suggesting a 3/16 or 1/4 inch thick buttcap with two ancher pins or screws plus mushroomed tang in center, ala our Gangaola.

Uncle Bill,
Just got the giant BAS from the post office
this morning. I haven't had a chance to use the blade, but initial examination visually revealed a beautifully made blade with quite some heft to it.
I compared the blade with a standard BAS that I bought earlier from you. At a quick glance when laid side by side, the giant BAS doesn't seem overly massive. Both, OAL measure just a hair over 16", tip to peened
over tang butt. The giant, though, has a blade width of 2" and thickness of 7/16" with
blade length of 10.75". The standard blade
is 10.5" long, 1.5" wide and 5/16" thick.
I don't have a scale, but the giant is substantially heftier. The giant feels more
like my 15.5" Ang Khola rather than the standard BAS.
When you said the sheath was tight, you were not kidding!!!! I noticed about 1/2" of
blade above the mouth of the scabbard when I
first took the knife out of the shipping wrapping. Grasping the handle and sheath properly, I pulled.... the blade would not budge! I had to sit down and hook the inner edges of my boots over the mouth of the sheath and use both hands on the knife handle and carefully tug on the knife before it loosened enough for me to unsheath in a more conventional manner. Going to try and "hog out" the sheath. For some reason, when I lay the blade on top of the scabbard to the
point where the blade should be at when fully
inserted to the proper depth, I get the feeling that the scabbard was not originally
intended for this particular blade...the width of the blade was a smidgen wider than the scabbard at that point.
Though I may end up destroying the scabbard
in trying to get a better blade fit, I still believe I got a great deal on the giant BAS!
Maybe I'll contact Chiro about one of his
custom jobbies. When (and IF) I give the
giant BAS a workout, I'll let you know what I think of it. Thanks, Bill.

Thanks for review from the field, Frank. I am not sure why some of the kamis like to make this giant BAS. And scabbards are usually custom made to fit the blade. Some of the thinks the kamis do continue to mystify me to this day. I will never get them figured out and perhaps this is how it should be. Life should always have a few surprises left even at my age.

Bill, if you are going to have shop 2 use anchor pins, I take it you are thinking of brass ones so when the cap is finished they will not show.

Measured the plate thickness on the cap on my AK that you saw, about 3/16".

Ummmmmm...I hope this isn't going to cause any confusion Bill, but the 20in Sirupati you sent me is also serial number 31.
P.S., my flat buttplate is only about 1/16th inch thick

If anybody has a Gangaola it has a keeper like I'm trying to get on every model. It looks like a stretched "Z" with tang peened in center and two brass pins driven into the handle. This buttcap is almost problem free.

Tom, I have been waiting for this. The guy can hardly write, as you can plainly see, and now I realize he can't count either. And he's the best educated in the shop! I think the Chainpuri cho, the only one so far, got him confused.
