3'" or 3.5"

Some have found this image (or one similar to it) helpful.

Top 24
Middle 3.5
Bottom 3
All Slicer Flippers

Haha I sure do! Maybe one day. I want something more subtle for this knife. I also noticed the talon hole in extrastouts first photo :)

HaHa good eyes OP;), I didn't even notice that my busse was a photo bomber:D.

3" xm-18 with my jealous boss jack, the overall length of the 3" xm-18 is only 2 1/4" longer than the bossjack handle (this picture makes the xm look much bigger in comparison because it's in the foreground)......

I've gone back and forth between 3" and 3.5", and think I've settled on 3.5" for most uses. At least while I'm over here, that is.

Many of us apply the Goldilocks Principle and refer to the 3.5" as this one being "just right" :)

Can't argue with Rubi's logic. :)

I've had both... recently traded a 3" Slicer for a 3.5"... much better, IMO. :)

Just look at your past history of knives to have had, or currently have. That should answer your question. Both are not an issue for your work uniform. I have always myself gone back to the 3" blade. Its always been plenty of blade for me to do the tasks I needed to do.

Well thank y'all for your input. It's not a matter of the uniform but more the bulkiness/weight and to "paint a picture" of the way it will be carried I included the manner in which it will be. I currently carry a Busse bear cub but want a folder to carry. I went with the 3.5". Thank y'all again for the help. I'll make sure to post pics when it arrives. And extrastout. Beautiful boss jack!! That was my first Busse. Wish I had known at the time and gotten the custom. I love that grind!

Magnum Bear Cub?
Custom BJ?...You mean the LE variant?

Here's an older image of MBCs w/ 3.5 XM...

ahhh LE! That's what I ment! I forgot there are other bear cubs.. Yes the Magnum Bear Cub. I love it. Thanks for the photo with the 3.5! Now all I need is that swamp scum ;)

Hold them both and realize the 3.5 is perfect size for this type of knife. If you can only get one get the 3.5....to me it makes more sense to have an overbuilt 3.5 then an overbuilt small 3 inch blade. The 3 inch is more of an edc (if you need a blade...you got one and plenty of pocket space), the 3.5 is more of an knife you bring knowing you are going to probably need to use a knife that day. I always carry the 3.5 spearpoint (cool factor and I just feel comfortable with it beside me ;)). I only go the the 3" xm at work as a machinist simply because the 3.5 is to bulky against the leg when leaning in and out of a machine all day and literally leaves a bruise on my thigh.

3.5 and 3"

3" compare to other popular smaller knives

These are good photos, you do it right.

When, oh when, is the shop going to make more 3" xm's? My 3.5 is too big for me for EDC. I can use it for that, but, I prefer smaller folders now.
More 3 inchers PLEASE!

They are working on them now, they started the process months ago, they should have some finished product in the coming months.

Agree with most who've said the 3.5" is 'just right'

I love ergos on the xm24 but it's just too heavy for regular edc and the 3" is although feels great in hand is a little too small.
