3 spydies, or 1 Sebbie.

Current situation puts me between 2 clear choices. These 3 Spydercos or the 1 Seb 21(soon discontinued)?

I’m leaning large Sebenza, but thought I’d leave this dilemma here. Seems weird to sell 3 awesome steels for 1 blade. However, I’m becoming more of a neutral handle knife kinda guy. Plus, I like CRK S35VN.

Might just have to keep the Superblue too lol.

Edit: All these knives are in my possession, just need to release some funds. The Umnumzaan in the background is my main carry.

Seb 21

Para 2 Rex45
Endura Superblue
Chaparral CTS-XHP

Cheers.

I’d keep the Chappy LWT and cash out the other two for a Sebenza. There will come a time due to size and/or weight restrictions that you’ll wish you had that little knife back. Not so much with the Endura and Para 2.

Depends on how much you are bothered by lock rock with the lockback.

I faced this same exact question a while ago and decided to go the budget (i.e: Spyderco) route. I ended up with a PM2, a PM3 and a Delica. After that, I ended up moving into CRKs anyhow. In retrospect, I regret having gone the budget route in the first place. I should have sucked it up, saved up my $$ and bought the Sebenza to begin with. IMO you’ll undoubedly end up with the Sebenza, even if you try the Spyderco route first. I now carry one of my Sebenzas every day (>10 months and counting right now) and none of my Spydercos have seen the light of day or the inside of a pants pocket since fall of 2018.

The real questions that you’re facing are these:
How much do you want to have three unused Spydercos sitting in some drawer while you carry your Sebenza every day?
How much do you want to spend 2x the $$ and end up with three unused knives and one that you carry and use all the time?

Unless you're dead set on a 21, you might want to go somewhere to check out a 21, Inkosi and a 31 first hand.

When it comes to a small, I prefer the 21 over the Inkosi. The 21 is a hair longer and fits my hand a bit better. For a large I think I prefer the Inkosi over the 21, although it's not as definite a preference as in the small. I haven't handled a 31 yet so I don't have an opinion on it. I do like the wood inlay pattern on the 31; it kind of looks like the old Annuals.

As you get closer to making the plunge, you might want to check out the Chris Reeve Knives sub-forum https://www.bladeforums.com/forums/chris-reeve-knives.703/

Lots of great, knowledgeable people there.

I know the position you are in. For me, I didn't like the Seb. It looks like you already have a Seb, so maybe try something else.

The clear answer here is Sebenza. I’ve had LOTs of Spydercos(30+) and now regularly switch between a large Sebenza and Hinderer Slicer.

I'd vote Spydercos. It is nice to have variety and if you lose one, you have backups.

I can certainly understand if you go Sebenza tho.

If you are down to where you have to get rid of one or the other, I'd get rid of the Sebbie and keep the 3 Spyderco blades. 3 is better than 1 in my opinion. You can always save and pick up another Sebenza 21 down the road, there are tons of them out there.
